9-11-2001

Our common sorrow, like a mighty wave swept over our nation Our hearts were heavy, for our trust had been taken
Like sisters and brothers our hearts folded together
And true strength we felt in the love for each other
Each smile a hymn, each kind deed a prayer
Where pity dwelled, God’s peace was in the air
Love can make the dark fire of anger cease
And in its ashes plant the tree of peace
