Letters from Families & Troops

Dear Ladies,

I happened to stumble onto your site, and found photos of the 2/9 leaving Pease on 9-15-08. Our son was part of that advance group leaving that day. We found 4 or 5 photos that had Kyle in them, and I wanted to say thank you. Just getting a glimpse of these men means a lot to us, even though we only know one in that group, it's nice to see the guys he went over with! We live in Wisconsin, and are so grateful to people like you who dedicate time in supporting these men and women during difficult deployments. Thanks again for all you do!!

G & M B

Thank you for giving our troops a wonderful send off and for making these great photos available to us. My husband, 1SG called me that day and he had been choked up at how so many people came out to see them off. How patriotic, how AMERICAN and how supportive! I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

B.M.

Dear Ladies (and I'm sure you have gentlemen helpers as well:)

Thank you so much for what you do! I had no idea until my husband came through Pease Sept 15th and called me to say "It was so cool, there were people all over waving and cheering and supporting us (at 5am)" I'm so glad to know that my husband left his country surrounded by people who support what he does. He and I both beam with pride knowing that the American spirit is still alive and strong even though some of our own in this country would have us think otherwise. Thank you again so much for being there for our guys and gals! God bless you always. -Jodie, North Carolina

Dear Flag Ladies,

I just viewed the pictures of the 2/9 Marines advance party that you greeted on September 15th.  I was so moved seeing those Marines and all of your kind faces greeting them and taking care of them.

My son Mark is also with the 2/9 Marines and will be coming your way the beginning of next week.

I want to thank you for what you are doing.  Words cannot express my gratitude.  You are angels not only to our warriors, but to their Moms.

God Bless you for your service, and thank you in advance for greeting my son. I will never forget your kindness and I know that he will not either.

Sincerely, R.S.

Thank you so much for taking the time to be there for our "boys". When our son just sent us the link to this website and we were able to see pictures of him and that he wasn’t alone, it took a heavy weight off of our hearts. God Bless all of you...this is definitely one web address that is added to our favorites..

Sincerely K & M B

Dear Freeport Flag Ladies and Folks,

I would like to request a picture be emailed to me. The date was September 15, page 1, the third picture down.  It is a picture of my hubby.

I cannot tell you what it means to me to see these pictures of these Marines.  I think I know several of them....most just babies.  My husband is the XO for 2/9 Btn.  You have my enduring and utmost thanks for what you do.  When the war broke out in 2003 my hubby went then.  At the time we were living in a place where people didn't really like the military and didn't support the war.  I was afraid to hang out a flag or put a star in the window.  My children were bullied in school because of their father. And I had no idea if there was anyone that would give my hubby a hug or a smile.

To see veterans of a much larger war saluting these men of mine just makes me sit in awe and thankfulness. To see warm smiling faces embracing and welcoming our loved ones is such a treasure and I cannot thank you enough.

May God Bless and Keep each and everyone of you and all you hold dear,

M.R.

Hi! I am a proud Marine wife of Batallion 2/9 whose advance party met you on September 15th. Although my husband isn't leaving until Monday with the rest of the battalion, I just wanted you to know that I looked at the pictures on your website from September 15th (Meeting the troops in Pease), and it brought me to tears. It so good to know that their are still Americans out there supporting our husbands. This is our second deployment, but I found out I was pregnant 3 weeks ago, and I am due around the time he is suppose to come home (May '09). It may account for some of the tears (*laughing*), but I just had to write you lovely ladies, and tell you thank you for what you do. It means so much to me to know that when my husband leaves here, there will be Americans out there supporting him until he returns to me. What you do is selfless and amazing. Please tell everyone in your organization that this Marine wife really appreciates your kindness towards our troops.

Semper Fi, C.G.

Good morning Ladies!!!

First and foremost, I’d like to give my utmost appreciation to you all – in what you stand for and what you do!!!!  Your tireless efforts of your time and dedication to the troops does not go unnoticed & believe me, you WILL be rewarded for your obedience!!  When I read the history behind what you all do, it brought tears to my eyes.  Just to know that you are so willing to give so freely of your time – it’s a very selfless act that we just don’t see enough of in today’s world.  I applaud you and will do everything I can to spread the word about you – keep up the great work and thank you again so much for sending my husband off the way you did.

He was with the Air Force group that flew into Bangor on 9/11/08 – it was hard enough that it was the anniversary of 9/11, but knowing where he was going made it even harder to let go.  However, when he called me from Bangor and told me about you all, you could hear the smile in his voice, which in turn put a smile in my heart.

I saw probably the best picture I’ve ever seen of him on your website and I’d really appreciate getting a copy.

Thanks again and God Bless You greatly!!

Thanks!! J.W.

Hello Ladies!

What wonderful work you are doing.  I know as a relative of a service family that the men and women in our services greatly appreciate your work, and as a family member, someone who can’t be there to see them off, I really appreciate your efforts to make them feel at home in our absence.  It’s always the little things, isn’t it, that make the big differences.  Again, my personal thanks and Keep up the good work!!!!

If it wouldn’t’ be too much trouble, my nephew is in a couple of pictures that I would really like to have a copy of.  PS LOVE THE SHIRTS!!!!

God bless America and keep her safe!!!

I become aware of your efforts when my son deployed to Iraq I am on your mailing list (email) I wanted to encourage you to keep it up. My son was hit by a blast from a IED resulting in the lost of his legs he is in Bethesda Naval Hospital we are so blessed that he is alive and that he has the best medical team in the world the efforts of these people and of all those who pray and support the soldiers are what is going to pull us all through this.

Hi

I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you. My husband was part of the Air Force Unit that left on 9/11. He is a member of the 180th from Toledo Ohio and is joining the Unit from Tulsa for a deployment to Iraq. We had to say good-bye to him on Tuesday, and it is great to see him in your pictures. Any little contact we get right now is a huge help to me and our son.

Again..thank you for your support of our troops and for giving us another look at Daddy before this time apart.

I am truly grateful!!!

Sincerely, J.M.

Dear Elaine, JoAnn, and Carmen,

Thank you all so much for all the work that you do. It was very comforting to see a photo of my husband, thank you for sending it along (it will be a great addition to our scrapbook!)

It is truly heartwarming to know that there are ladies like you all that can bring a little love and light to a deployment, it means so much to me to know that my husband got to spend a little time with you three lovely ladies.

Thank you again for all of your support, our troops need all of the love and support they can get!

Much aloha,

Cat

My Angels, Freeport Flag Ladies.. I will forever be grateful for your prayers and undying support of our children, the warriors for our country..My heart is heavy today...Please know how you’ll help me cope from day to day..My MARINE is among the many helping to preserve our freedom in Iraq....Bless you all for you hard work. Love, D.C., Florida

Thank you for your steadfast dedication to our country and our freedom. Your support has meant so much to us and yet we have never met!

Our son deployed for Iraq in April 2007.  You were the last Americans he saw as he left our country.  He returned safely to us in June 2008.  Again, you were the ones that welcomed him and his fellow soldiers home.  We are so grateful for his safe return.  Unfortunately, his best friend and roommate gave his life for our freedom on July 1, 2007 in Baghdad.  We are keenly aware of laying down ones life so that we might live free.

Don’t grow weary in your support of our country, our military, and our citizens. We appreciate you!

Dear ladies

I am a 60 year old advertising executive in Jamaica, who read your story in the Readers Digest, with tears in my eyes. I spent my college years in Florida, in the turbulent 60's, a man of mixed heritage as all Jamaicans are. I experienced and received the love, and majestic spirit of America and its people, and have loved it fiercely in return ever since. May God richly bless you all, for what you do, and may God continue to bless my beloved United States.

R.A.M.

First I'd like to say you have a great web site and I think what you're doing for the troops is wonderful.  I very much appreciate your hospitality and kindness to my son.  I'd like to request two photos please --.  Thank you so much and thank you for the work you do.

Your site is amazing and so are the 3 of you. My friend and I both way over the hill amazed at the fact that all 3 of you were in such great shape with belts. HA.  Those of us with no waistline are jealous.  Anyway, my Johnny left Bangor at 7:30 am today and is in San Diego now. We live in Sacramento so we will have to wait until tomorrow to do our hugging and kissing.

We all appreciate greatly what you do for our troops. They really feel loved. John said a lot of 'older' folks met them with handshakes and thank you's and even gave him a phone to use. He had given away all his global phone cards to those left in Iraq.

BIG THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU. J.H.

Dear Freeport Flag Ladies,

Hello I currently have a boyfriend w is in the army and is in Iraq till June. I had heard about your wonderful site from a friend at work whose friend also has a husband in Iraq. When I came to your web site it just simply amazed me by the creative and thoughtful things you ladies are doing for our country. I wish everyone could be as dedicated and help our soldiers in need just like you three. I am also a junior ladies auxiliary member and if we could do anything at all to help you guys we will. It feels so good to now that there are still a few good people who care about our men and women who are fighting for our country. This is my first time dealing with a deployment and I just have a few questions of my own that I wonder if you ladies could help me with. Being it is my first time I was just wondering what things I could send over to him during the holidays and just little things or any idea's I could do, I would greatly appreciate it. If there is anything that I also could do for you three ladies please let me know. I greatly appreciate what you ladies are doing and I’m willing to help you ladies out with anything.

Thank you, G. P.

Dear Freeport Flag Ladies;

Thank you all so much for the service of support that you provide to our troops who are shipping out from Maine!   My husband, Lt. Col. D,T, was one of those who was awed by your presence and by your patriotism.   From a family member’s perspective, it means so much that you all were there to do what we back home could not:  send our guys and gals off at the airport with a hefty dose of American pride.  I only wish that our Vietnam-era soldiers and airmen had been so fortunate to have had that kind of support.  I know they likely didn’t, and it breaks my heart to think of the venom with which many of them were sent off and/or greeted upon their return.

So, from Dr. T’s family in Texas:  Thank Ya’ll SO MUCH!!!

Dear Freeport Flag Ladies,

I wanted to take the time to thank you for all that you do to support our troops.  My husband arrived at that airport on September 5th and it's so exciting for me and my family to be able to see pictures of him and our friends.  Thank you for providing that picture that makes us smile and the encouragement that there are people out there looking out for them.  Any small act of kindness is like rewarding this family with a million dollars.  God bless you all!!

Sincerely, LMS

My son went on the 8/29/08 Flight 1. You had four pictures of him, which I was able to copy to my computer.  I cannot tell you how proud I am of your group for supporting our military.  With patriots like you along the way, throughout him deployment, he will be reminded of how much Americans care for his efforts.  I will be reviewing your extensive site to see how I can help you continue your fine work.

Good Evening,

I just wanted to say THANK YOU for all you do. You truly are remarkable women!

… My husband is currently on his 2nd deployment.  We have a son who is 16 months old and 1 due in Oct. and I am keeping a photo album of Daddy for them. He had called me last night to let me know there might be pictures of him on your website. I looked tonight and there they were.  If you’d be so kind as to e-mail me copies of them I would be forever grateful.

He also told me that you were there to greet them when they returned from their 1st deployment in 2005. It warms my heart that there are groups like you still out there supporting our soldiers and I send HUGS out to all of you!

Thank you again for all you do!!!

K.S,

my darling freedom flag ladies..on september 12th. my precious daughter, sgt. J.C. USMC crosses the wire into a city on mission to set up a new installation for our troops..this is her second tour, the first one out of the green zone..I am asking you for a few extra prayers on her behalf..I am so proud of her, and  yet I feel terribly nervous, and full of anxiety..i know that you understand..thatis why I am writing today..i shall close now with THANKS for your undying support during all these difficult months...affectionately,

D.C. INDIALANTIC FLORIDA

You were there to send off my Marine son to Afghanistan and I sent you an email then. I hope they fly back into your airport so you can welcome him home. He has had some very close calls, one of the LAV's hit an IED but thank God the young men were not hurt seriously, an artillery shell went off right by their tent and most especially the young man standing next to my son was hit in the chest with a bullet, it knocked him flat. When he and others went to render first aide, much to their amazement the bullet had been stopped by a grenade the young man was wearing on his chest. God intervened and though the Marine was bruised and sore, God kept that grenade that stopped the bullet from going off and killing the young man and hurting or killing those that came to him to help. I told Jason God wasn't ready for you guys that day. One of my sincerest hopes is to one day venture from South Florida and come visit you WONDERFUL citizens. I know you get a lot of emails thanking you but I would love to give you all a hug and proudly display the flag alongside of you. God bless you everyday in everyway!

R.A., PROUD Mom of Corporal J.A. 24th MEU.

My husband always forwards the emails you send him and I enjoy the poems and pictures so much.

I just had to add a thank you for all it looks like your group does.  My son LCpl Timothy Smith left for Iraq last Wed.  When I mentioned he had flown out of Bangor Maine one of the fellow Marine mom’s sent me a link to your website.  It was very impressive.  It is so good to see that us mom’s aren’t the only ones who care.  We have a Marine mom’s group here in Des Moines, IA & we try to promote the troops as much as we can.  THANKS again!!

Freeport Flag Ladies,

I just wanted to say thank you for greeting the soldiers at the airport and allowing them to use your cell phones for a few minutes! My husband JUST got on a plain headed from Colorado Springs to Maine, and then into Kuwait, and all the soldiers were talking about you ladies! Just wanted to let you know that you are making a positive impact all around the country, and your patriotism is greatly appreciated.

Hi Ladies,

I just wanted to thank you for the pictures you took of my husband while he was in Maine.  I also appreciate sooo much the call I received from him when he arrived in Maine.  I was worried I wouldn't be able to talk to him for awhile, but because of your generosity I got to speak with him.  Programs like yours make military families feel so wonderful in a time when our worlds are crumbling.  I can't thank you enough!!

Sincerely, R.M.

Hi,

My husband Johnny, gave me your website information and told me about the pictures.  I looked around your website and I think it is fantastic what all of you are doing.  I am spreading the word about you do, to get the word out and hopefully get some people to donate to your cause.  I told one friend at work and he said he had read about you in Readers Digest.

I saw his picture on your website and would like it emailed to me.

Thank you very much for all you do for the men.  I know it made Johnny feel good.

Thank you again, M.A.M.

Thank you ever so much for the heart felt gifts, the care package that you had sent. I of Course share it with my Marine brethren, and brought the box to my Chaplin. I would surmise we have one the best Navy Chaplains in the corps. I really enjoy the poems you send; it touches my spirit and reminds me that we live in the greatest country on earth. The world will never understand the profound sense of community and family we Americans share. Thanks again SSgt T.

I can't thank you enough for the support and joy you bring to the troops. My husband is on year 17 in the Marine Corps and he had the pleasure of meeting all of you four times and still talk about it today. I now have a son in the Army that just flew through there on the 5th of September. I have checked everyday since trying to catch a photo of him. I am so happy that someone was there to lift his spirits. So from the bottom of my heart thank you for all you do.

M.R.

USMC Wife, ARMY Mom

Dear Sweet Ladies,

On March 2008 , at Pease, you all welcomed the Army's 101st Airborne out of Fort Campbell, as they headed off to Afghanistan.  It was such a comforting sight to be able to see the pictures of our loved ones in the loving care of all of those who gladly gave their time to make sure our brave men and women were thought of as they travel to hostile territory.  A week ago, we lost 2 of our brave men from an IED and several more were wounded.  My son was among the wounded (platoon Sargent) as a suicide bomber rammed his humvee. By the grace of God, he and his men were able to get out before the explosion. The injuries were substantial but pale to the lose of his beloved men.

Please pray for the families of our fallen and wounded as they are having a difficult time right now.

And please know that we are all so thankful for your continued service to our military.  Our hearts are touched by each and every e-mail and picture that we receive from you.

May God Bless you and Keep you.

Thanks so much,

A proud Army Mom

Dear Elaine, JoAnn and Carmen,

I want to thank you for all you do!  My husband recently went to Qatar and was treated to your hospitality while on a stopover in Maine.  I can't begin to tell you how touched he was that you would go to the effort you do.  As a former Naval officer and long time spouse of an active duty military member (20+ years), I have rarely seen the kindness and appreciation that you routinely extend to our service men and women.  I was and am deeply moved by your efforts and just wanted you to know how much your kindness and hospitality was and truly is appreciated.

With warmest regards, K.B.

PS

You took the best photos of my husband that I've seen in years!!!  Thanks!

Our son will be on his way to Maine in a few hours.  He is in the 2nd Brigade of the 4th Infantry Division.  His unit will be leaving Fort Carson, CO this morning and will arrive in Maine later today.  They are on their way back to Iraq for at least a year deployment.  This is our son's second deployment to Iraq.  We asked Rob to look for you ladies and introduce himself.  We would like to be able to see a photo of him on your web site.  I don't know if you remember, but my wife was the one who made the little quilted flag pins and sent them to you.

We want to thank you for all of the poems that you regularly send.  We read them all and forward them onto Rob.  We are sure it most be a real comfort to all of our service folks who pass through Maine on their way to Iraq to experience the warm and friendly welcome and good wishes that you ladies provide.  They must be feeling a little scared and apprehensive, not knowing what the future has in store for them, and already starting to feel the pain of separation from their families.  As parents of a Soldier we want to thank you for all you are doing.

Hello our *daughter well future Daughter but in our hearts she already is recently deployed along with our son. We saw a photo of her…  we would absolutely love to receive her photo. Unfortunately we did not see our sons photo but so glad to see one of them. . We thank you so much for what you do and knowing what you do give my husband and I peace in our hearts to know there are angels watching over our children. May god bless you as you continue to serve our children and loved ones.   Love C & T B

Ladies:

I just wanted to drop you all a short note to say thank you for the very kind shipment of goodies that you sent here.  The box arrived the other day and it was so nice to have some things to share with the folks in my shop and to have some fun things to hand out to my troops.  Again, I do sincerely appreciate it, and all the nice things you three folks are doing for the troops here to let them know that folks back home are thinking about them.

You probably do not know this, but the Theater Hospital here at Bagram Air Field in Afghanistan treats many local children who have been injured in their villages or who have been hurt because of the active mines laying about, from the Soviet occupation of this nation.  So, most of the fun toy things you sent will go to our in-patient unit for these kids to have as they have nothing and are hospitalized for long periods of time.

I am attaching a picture of me and your box as I thought you would like to have it.

Again, all my thanks for your kind contribution and generosity.

Major Scott V.D.

You ladies are a bright spot in my day. It is nice to see a group that understands what great freedoms we have in this country and the true cost of that freedom. Please keep those flags held high.

God Bless and Thank you-Joel

Hello,

I just wanted to send a hearty thank you for the work that all of you did for us upon our arrival in Maine.  It was a VERY welcome surprise to get off the plane even though it was so early and have all of you waiting there with warm smiles and warm hearts.  I am keeping my lucky penny very near to my heart (in my uniform pocket), as are many others.  Again, thank you all so very much, you are greatly appreciated!!

Sincerely,

My unit and I have just arrived back in IRAQ, we were just here 10 months ago, and yet everyone has a very upbeat attitude towards the deployment. This is my 4th time in the Middle East, it’s hard leaving my girls behind, and yet I do it knowing that just as Ester Forbes wrote in her book JOHNNY TRREMAIN “ One must stand, so that other men may be free”. Thank you for all that you do, with patriots like us, just shows we live in the greatest country on Earth.

SSGT J.T. W II 1st BN 2nd MARINES

Thank you for the picture and for all your support...we appreciate all the effort that you guys are doing for us and for all the troops that are still out there defending the freedom and democracy.... please keep us in your prayers. Thanks again...may god bless you always...

Hello Flag Ladies,

I just wanted to say from the bottom of my heart, thank you! This is one of the hardest things a family can go through; the rock of our family had to leave his wife and two children (ages two and four) to a dangerous war zone. When my husband called from an Oklahoma airport, he was tired and already full of grief hit by the reality of what is happening. Later, I got this phone call from him in Maine and he was actually cheery! He was so touched by your thoughtfulness. It comforted him, which comforted me. I anxiously scrolled through your pages looking for photos of my husband. It is such a blessing that you meet the soldiers when you do. So often I hear soldiers say that they no longer feel as though Americans appreciate them because so many people are now against the war. This hurts because regardless of people's opinions of the war, many men and women are still leaving families and some may not return. We would like to think this is not a pointless war and that these brave soldiers are not dying in vain. Please keep up your support. The morale of our soldiers need you, their families need you!

Sincerely, A.M.

Hello Flag Ladies and Friends,

Found you at last!  Our son was on the flight full of Marines that stopped in Bangor on their way to Iraq Saturday night, July 26.  His wife was so excited to get his call. It meant more to all of us than we can express to have that last bit of contact before he left the States.  He is a machine gunner in the Weapons Co. and this is his first deployment.  I have so wanted to express thanks from all our family for such thoughtful acts on your part, but had no idea as to exactly who you were and how to contact you!  But many prayers of thanks have been said for your graciousness.  I don't see Chris in any of the photos, but recognize several guys we met the afternoon they left. (Our daughter-in-law sent us the link to your site.)

Please pass on our gratitude to others who met the flight.  What a wonderful gift you give to each person you greet.  May our God bless you richly for what you have done.

Very sincerely,E.L.

Harrodsburg, KY

Hello,

First of all I would love to thank you all for taking those pictures. It has become the only thing since July 3rd I have seen of my son. Still hoping for a call home!! Communication should be up to him in a matter of 1 to 2 months. I don't know if you are aware of this but our group has already lost 3 out of A troop, 1 out of C troop and 1 support man. Many prayers being said for those lost and those who are there.

I was hoping you would email me the original picture of my son sitting on the phone calling home to me.

I would love to have it for my computer screen. I can't tell you how much that picture means to me. My husband wanted me to let you know he is from northern Maine himself. Born and raised right outside of Loring AFB (before it was shut down) in a little town called Limestone. His mom is still there and we should be coming back for retirement.

Thank you, J.S.

HI Ladies, I have never met you but you have touched my heart many times through the past 3 years.  I know that only from your heart can those beautiful, inspirational, supportive and loving messages from Elaine, arise and are heard.  So although I am Canadian and live in Toronto, I am with you in spirit with much gratitude and thanks from my family and I to you and all of the supporters of our heroes, our troops serving on dangerous ground as we speak. And for those who have come home safely, or with emotional or physical situations resulting from being in a war zone to keep your country and mine safe.  May we never forget they are there and why, and may we always remember the heroes who came home from any war and those who have given their life for ours.

As 9/11 approaches once again, it is ever more important to show the support you will be showing for the troops.  With each smile you give, a soldiers heart smiles.  That is a precious gift to give to them and I am forever grateful to you for that.  Thank you.  I have been writing to Soldiers for Soldiers Angels going on 3 years now and each time I get a response from one of them, it is always in thanks for letting them know we care.  I try to make sure they know that many many good, hardworking people back here do care and support them.  That is the gift I can give and it is an honour for me to do so.

I have gotten some late night calls from my son David recently and I think it is because of 9/11 approaching.  He is doing well, going to college and learning to use his left hand more and more each day.  I am very proud of him.  But I pray that he gets a full nights sleep soon.  For 2 yrs now his mind has been on 'high alert' because of the constant combat situations he was in as well as losing a good friend to a bomb thrown under their vehicle.  He is diagnosed with PTSD but getting great counseling.  He is a combat medic as you know, and he has been able to talk to older veterans of previous wars who were also medics, and that has been amazing.  Only they would know what he has been through and how serious he always had to be because his men needed to know they could count on 'doc' as they call medics.    I tell you this because I am going to send him your email.  I know it will help him to feel much better about himself for doing an honorable and courageous job far from home and family.

Many thanks from your friendD.F., proud army medic mom of Sgt.D.F..

Freeport Flag Ladies,

What a blessing ya'll are! The love of my life just deployed to Iraq, and I’ve been looking to see if I could find him in any of the photos and sure enough here he was. He's adorable ain’t he lol. But I'll tell you I cant describe the feeling of comfort the came over me seeing his photo while in Maine shortly after departing me in North Carolina. You ladies have had me smiling for days, what you all do is absolutely AMAZING. I know it brings happiness to our loved ones as well. So to you ladies, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for making my darling smile before leaving the states, and as well as me for just seeing his image. =) God bless you! Keep up the great work! and take care

Dear Freeport Flag Ladies,

I found out about your website/organization today in an email from my boyfriend (he's currently stationed in Kuwait).  It completely warms my heart and soul to see the hard work and dedication you all put into the cause.  I'm sure the amount of satisfaction in making so many lives brighter cannot ever truly be described.  I thank you for being there to see them off; I wish I could have done the same.  I saw two pictures of my boyfriend on your site.  If you could please email them to me sometime, I would deeply appreciate it.

Thank you so much!

Much Love and Respect to You,

 Jul. in Chicago

Hi,

I was just on the website and was trying to access your August 10th 2008 Marines flight. It kept telling me the page was unavailable. I know you’re a busy bunch, but do you know when it will be up and viewable? I also just want to say thank you so much for what you all do for our troops. This is our third deployment to Iraq in three years. Every time our hero goes through we get to see a picture of him:) Although he just left seeing him on our computer screen helps start the heeling process. Pictures with a story that we get to keep with us for a lifetime. Not to mention the pride that we all feel when we know there is such a wonderful group of ladies out there!!!  Can't wait to see the pictures of my hubby and all of our other troops!

 God bless you all!

Melissa, Proud wife of a United States MarineMac and Mason proud boys!

Thank you so much! We were so excited. The boys got to see four pictures of daddy!!!! It was feeling a bit gloomy around here and this really made our day! So once again. Thank you so much for doing this for the families!

Hi,

My boyfriend just flew through Bangor on August 10. (I just wanted to say thank you so much for what you do. It was so hard to say goodbye, but being able to see those pictures of him and know that he was at least shown some love while he was there made me feel so much better. I appreciate that so much

Thank you!! B.P.

Dear Elaine, JoAnn, Carmen, and all of the members of your group,

Again, words cannot express our gratitude for all you have done ... for us and for those who came before and will come along after.  These pictures and the memories they hold for our son, and now us, will be forever treasured.  Reassured was the perfect word to use; I was simply beside myself when at first I couldn't find his picture, and for the life of me, I couldn't figure out why ... that was just it ... reassurance ... that he was ... okay.  Your generous sharing of your time and talent, along with your kind words have touched us deeply, helping to make this ... time ... easier on us all.

May God bless you and yours,

Joe and Pattie

Thank you so much for the pictures of the marines in Bangor. I haven't got to see my nephew in a year and it was great seeing the pictures of him!! You guys are so awesome!!! Thanks for everything you do. I'm working on getting a care package together for him! I wish I could hug all of your necks!! These kids really need what you're doing!

Thanks again from the bottom of my heart, W.B.

Hello,

Thank you -very- much for hosting such a great site and too, for being there for our troops!

Our son was recently deployed and is now in Kuwait.  He sent us the link to your site, telling us of the pictures you took of him.  I was initially quite distressed because I couldn't find the pictures of him.  He's only been away for one month and I have millions of pictures of him, but for some reason, I was upset that I couldn't find him on your site.  Once he sent me better instructions, I was able to locate him without a problem and can't thank you enough!

I just returned to the site to save the images you posted and saw your gracious offer to email us the originals; wow ... that's devotion and truly appreciated!

If you could email us the four shots you have posted, that would be great!

Again ... a heartfelt ... thank you!

 In peace, Pattie

My health and pocketbook are not so that I can join you for this event, but I will be there in heart with all of you. By the way, my grandson has returned to Iraq for his second tour, left last week. Please remember him in your prayers. Thanks for being there for our guys. You are a wonderful group.

My love and prayers, L.C.T.

This is a really good poem, Elaine--thanks so much for writing it and sending it! I'm also sending it along to several friends by copy of this, and I'm printing out a copy to hang on to myself.

Most of all, thank you for all that you and the other Freeport Flag Ladies do to remind us to honor those who honor us with their service! May God bless you richly.

Mary Anne

Elaine, Carmen and JoAnn,

I just read your article in readers digest July 2008, and I wanted to let you know how much us troops appreciate you. I have never had the pleasure of meeting you but I must say that it made my heart warm reading what you are doing for your country. You three women are absolutely amazing, thank you for your love and support.

I wanted to start by saying thank you very much for all that you do especially taking pictures of the troops before they deploy overseas. When my husband told me that there were people that greeted him when he got off the plane I certainly did not expect a group of that size standing there in support for what they are about to do. I was even more pleased when he had told me that there would be a picture of him talking to me in the airport placed on your website. Now the pictures are up and I got to see him just one more time before he left for his first deployment. These pictures will have a great place in my scrapbook. I appreciate you taking the time to take them.

Thanks Again,

H.H.
