Letters from Families & Troops

After 4 years in Germany and 1 tour in Afghanistan our son is finally home.  We are thankful for him and all our heroes this Thanksgiving.  We are especially glad for your weekly poems of inspiration.  Please continue them for all the deployed.  You are so talented; hopefully you will publish them someday.  Take care and God bless all the Freeport Flag ladies and gentlemen.  Your work is very much appreciated.  From a Blue Star Mom and Dad of two military sons.  Happy Thanksgiving.

I wanted to thank you for what you do.  My husband passed through The Bangor Airport on October 31st with 2/8 out of Camp Lejeune, NC.  It was nice to be able to see pictures of him after he left.  This is my first deployment and even though he had just left it already felt like forever.  He has been in the Marine Corps for 9 years (this December) and I have be fortunate enough not to have been really separated from him for more than a week or two at any one time until now.  But now back to the main point, Thank You for your support of the troops and all the hours ya'll put into doing what you do.  If only there was more people like ya'll in this world.

 Thank You Again, A.B.

Proud Marine Wife

Hi Elaine and all the Freeport Flag Ladies:

I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for the messages I receive every Tuesday.  I also want to thank you all for the prayers and support for our troops.  My son is currently serving in the Marines in Iraqi.  The photos I received from you when he was on his way there are so beautiful.  I look at them often.

Anyway, I just wanted to thank you all for your support.  It really means a lot to me.

 Sincerely, C.B.

Stay strong my dear friends, God is shining down upon us even through the rain, heartache and even the battlefields. You are such a blessing to me an so many more. Thank you for standing on the hill today for all our service men and women around the world.

I wish you a blessed Thanksgiving! Barbara

Dear Freeport Ladies,

First I would like to thank you for the wonderful work you do in support of our troops. I am a dependent Navy spouse of 21 years and have two sons in the military, which is the reason for this email. My son a US Marine was very touched by your support when his company 2/8 weapons came through on October 30, 2007 in Bangor. He has since left for his second deployment to Iraq and is a two time Purple Heart recipient and all of 20years old. He has taken his NEW PENNY to Iraq with him on this tour as his good luck charm.

I am asking if possible to have copies of a couple of the good pictures you have taken of him, there are several but I will only ask for three for his scrap book since you touched him so deeply.

Again hard to miss the big smile.

Thank you again for touching him so deeply.

God Bless you all! P.W.

Dear Freeport Flag Ladies~

First I would like to extend my utmost appreciation for what you do!!  This is our first deployment, and my husband had to leave only 5 days after the birth of our first child.  Upon arriving in Bangor, the excitement in his voice as we talked, showed he's sincere gratitude for ya'll bein' there.

Proud Army Wife, D.A.

I don't think words can say just how much comfort it brings to the heart of a concerned loved one to see a picture like this after a separation in which you feel so much uncertainty about what the future holds for your deploying loved one, your family and our country!

This definitely brought a smile to my heart!

 Thank you so much....again!

This message was truly beautiful as are all the others; Elaine writes from her heart, I feel your words more than just reading them.  I think because Remembrance Day has just passed I was a little more emotional and knowing I can come here and see another inspirational message helps uplift me even more.  Thank you so much.  D.F.

I will like to say that I am sorry because for a while I was deleting

all the mails without reading them. For some reason I wanted to stay away from anybody that was not with my team in Fallujah, Iraq. Now, I understand that the sacrifices and dedication that you do for our soldiers is what we need to see. When we arrived in our country from over there. That is the first good thing that we see. Thanks for all your support.

Very Respectfully, J.V.

Hi Elaine,

My husband was able to meet you your group last year as he left for Iraq.  He returned home this last Labor Day.  I just wanted to say Thank you to you and all of the people involved in your group for all that you do.  I receive your email every Tuesday and am honored that you are up on that hill every Tuesday despite the weather.  Good luck in all your endeavors and again please extend our thanks to all involved in your organization.

 Take care, D.W.

On February 8, 2007 you and your welcoming committee welcomed our son and his men at Bangor. The love and support you showed to them will always be remembered by us.  Thank you so much.

They were on their way to Camp Bucca in southern Iraq.

We wanted you to know that Pete and his troops have completed their tour and are now back home.  Our prayers have been answered because they ALL returned safely.

Thank you for the kindness you showed the troops that day and thank you for your continuing efforts to let our men and women of our Military know they are truly loved and supported.

Hello Ladies,

I wanted to thank you for what you are doing for our soldiers. My husband's unit just left, 3d ACR, and I got to see pictures of them. My husband didn't fly into Maine, but seeing the pictures affected me just the same. With so many people protesting what the soldiers do, it is really nice to see some supporting and doing something for them. So Thank You.

Hi,

Thank you so much for getting pictures of our guys as they head out of country. I can't believe you actually caught my husband as he is usually very good at avoiding the camera lens. And you caught him multiple times! In one he's even on the phone so in effect, you even caught me in the photo.

If it isn't too much to ask, I wonder if you could send me a couple of them so I can get them into the memory book. They'd be a rare find as I wasn't there to take them myself!

Again, thank you so much. They are greatly appreciated.

Nicki

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,…Our AJ is in the 3rd ACR which you met there during the first couple of weeks of November, and especially on Tuesday night the 5th. We live in the upper Northwest corner of New Mexico and have to wonder sometimes about this great country of ours. Is it true that everyone is at the mall and so many of our fellow citizens don't seem know what's going on? I have also often wondered if there are really angels or not, and now I know with out a doubt that there are a whole bunch of them living in and around Bangor Maine with cameras and maintaining web sites on the internet. One of you took hispicture while he was calling us to tell us not to worry and that he and all his friends would be OK. He has a huge smile on his face and for the first time in a week we were able to breath a little easier. Thank you again.(We're only half way through the Web page ... what a great thing your doing for this country) God love you, we sure do. Good night!

Dear ladies,

I cannot tell you how much fun my daughter and I had looking at all the pictures you all took of our 3ACR guys.  It was so nice to see the pictures of my husband. My 20-month-old daughter was looking over my shoulder while I was browsing the pictures. When I came upon a picture of Michael she said DADDA!!!!  It really made me sooo happy.  Thanks so much for all that you do for all the soldiers and for the families.  It is so nice to know that someone out there TRULY cares about the sacrifice that our family is making.  I hope you enjoy the picture I sent to you of our family.

Sincerely,

M. P.and O. F., too

Hello,

My husband deployed for Iraq on Tuesday November the 6th.  My neighbors husband deployed on Monday and we saw his picture on the MaineTroopGreeters website. I knew my husband was going to Maine and I cannot tell you how many times I refreshed the pages to see if my husband's picture was up there, but it never came. A few of us Army wives have been together, obsessively staring at a never changing computer screen. I can't express how badly we needed to have some small connection to our boys and the experiences they've had since we said our goodbyes. A couple days passed before I heard from him. I just now got a phone call from him in Kuwait and he told me about the Freeport Flag Ladies. I want to thank you so much for all of the wonderful work you have been doing. He was so excited and appreciative of you. I thank the Lord for our modern technology. We have been blessed with connections that so many have never had before during times like this. I can not imagine how many troops you have met and spent time with during your mission but I am so thankful that you appreciate just how special and important every single soldier is to their families and loved ones back home and the time and great effort you have honored us with. Thank you for caring so much. Thank you for showing them how much they are appreciated and supported.

I will continue to be glued to your website, consistently refreshing the pages awaiting your most recent updates. Once again, thank you and God bless you.

Sincerely, K.S.

Thank You,

My Son just deployed from Maine on Tuesday, 6 November, to Iraq, this is how I heard about your organization. I and my family wish to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for what you and your group did to brighten up the day for my son and his unit, you took what was a not so happy experiences to one where he had to call us at home in Minnesota to tell us how good you all made them feel. I'm sure I speak for many Moms & Dads, Thanks for being there for our Sons & Daughters.

Forever Grateful G.H.

Thank you so much for putting a picture of my son on your website, it made one sad mom a happy dayJ

Dear Ladies,

Thank you so much for all of the support you lend and pictures you take of our troops. Our son is among the Marines photographed on the Oct. 30th postings.  While it was wonderful to hear his voice when he called that night it was so good to see the photos of him. My husband and I are both deeply touched and appreciative of all of your effort and dedication to the troops.

You have dedicated yourselves to a selfless task that serves so many.  You are in our prayers with the hope that one day you will be able to end your trips to the airport because all of our sons and daughters will be home.

God Bless You All, K & B H

Dear Flag Ladies.

What great surprises we have received has been packages from you. What a delight.

It is awe inspiring to know that you care so much for all of us. You made our holiday, we still have some of the things you sent and share it with whoever we can.

Please keep up the great work. We greatly appreciate it.

I cannot tell you what a blessing you are to me.  I have not seen or had a photo of my son in over a year.  Now I see him in one of the photos on his way to Iraq.  How does one thank you for giving a Mom and Dad such a gift.  May God bless you dearly in your ministry to our soldiers and to us as family.

Our son is the one with the silly grin on his face looking at books among friends in a store.  Just seeing him is definitely PRICELESS.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.  D.B.

 Dear Ladies,

I just want to take a few moments to tell thank for the photo you took of me and my fellow soldier. My wife and baby girl love it. My wife put it as a screen safer for her laptop.

Again thank you for your time and effort. Also thank for me the gentlemen from the VFW. They are the real heroes.

                   Yours truly,

                     Sgt P. C. L.

You all will never know how much we appreciate you taking these pictures.  It is really great to see those guys, as they are getting ready to leave.  The love you all are showing them really stands out in each shot.

Many thanks again and my God Bless You and Yours.

It's been a long week.  So many of the young men who have been deployed with my son over the last three years returned to Iraq this week.  My son, who will be out of the Marines in December - did not go with them.  We've always known how hard it is to be the ones who wait at home; and now he is experiencing that.

Still, tonight I slipped on line to see if there were any messages from the Moms ... and I found a link to your site.  And there they were!  The first two pictures I saw are two of my sons good friends, guys he's been through so much with.  And as I slipped through the pages I found more of the guys we've prayed for through the years, and now again.

And they are SMILING!

I grabbed my phone and started calling moms "did you see your boy?"

THANK YOU for this ministry to the guys and to the families.

Words are not enough, but will have to do!

Dear Carmen, Elaine and JoAnn,

When my son called me from the Bangor airport, and described the send off he and buddies were receiving well I guess there aren't enough words to describe the gratitude I felt for you. Thank-you for the opportunity to see my son in photo's one more time on his native soil. And it's wonderful to see faces of the young men who will be by his side I’m sure you know how far reaching an effect your work has on this precious planet. With the sincerest gratitude, C.M.

Lovely Freeport Flag Ladies,

What you lovely ladies are doing goes deeper than many realize and I, as a first time mother sending her son overseas, am very humbled by your efforts.

We were unaware that we would have been able to fly and see our son off before he deployed to Iraq and got a phone call from him when he left base believing that would be the last time we would hear from Alex, perhaps for 2 months.  THEN, we got a call Wednesday night, October 3rd from Bangor, Maine and I can’t tell you how much that meant to our family.  He was telling us on the phone how “cool” it was to have so many people greet them at the airport, shake their hands, thank them, and he was given a phone where he could call home  ….  his voice, the cheers we heard in the background, how proud he was/we are and the feeling he/we got from all of you is just soooo WONDERFUL.   It is worth more than you ALL can imagine, especially since we were not there in person.  I just want to thank everyone who made this so special for my son and us so VERY, VERY MUCH.

He again called us from Germany when they landed Thursday (4:00 a.m. our time!)  I get a “collect” call from Alex through the international operator, my heart skipped a beat at first before I became a little more awake.  He was unaware it was 4:00 a.m. it was noon in Germany he said, I am in hopes he will become more aware of the time zone but in all honesty I’ll take a call anytime, anywhere!  J

I would like to request a copy of the picture of my son one of you lovely ladies took.  This picture will most definitely get printed, given to the many family members and friends who keep asking us of Alex’s health, and will be hung next to his other military pictures and others I’ve begun to collect to make him an album for when he returns……  one that he can give to his children and carry on the very heart of why our son joined – freedom, democracy and defending our safety.   He always felt that way from the time he was little and always wanted to help people. As a 4-H Teen Leader he organized many events to collect and send packages to the troops in Iraq 2003-05 – he has always wanted to help as many people as he could and in serving his country he found a way to do just that.  I have many who are asking what they can send and thus will soon begin gathering things myself to send to my son and his fellow Marines.

THANK YOU TO YOU BEAUTIFUL LADIES FOR WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!!!!!

Wow!  What a website!  I think it is an amazing and wonderful service you provide.  My son recently came through New Hampshire and I would love to have some of the photos of him on the website.

Again, thanks so much for your support and love for these guys.  I know it was helpful for my boy.  Keep up the good work and God Bless!

I want to thank you ladies for the pictures of my son you sent to me, I will be forever grateful for them and all that you do. And for the words of inspiration, that give me a sense of peace within. Please continue to send these words of inspiration, it helps me to stay positive in a time I find it to difficult to do. I miss my boys so much, I can barely stand it. But being positive is what I must stay, or the negative would eat me alive. So again I thank you for all that you do for our soldiers and those within their lives, thank you and god bless you. D.K.

I don’t know if you ever get enough thanks for what you are doing. So I would like to say thank you. It means so much to the soldiers and their families. I know it means a lot to me. My husband left a year ago on the 22 of October and when I saw him on your web page it was nice to know that he was ok after leaving us. I am now waiting for him to come home again but with the extension I will have to wait until January. I just needed you to know that your efforts are appreciated THANK YOU!!!

C.G.

I appreciate very much what you sweet lil` honey bears are doing with your volunteer work in BANGOR. Thanks!!! My Son was at BANGOR airport 1:00 Am Sunday morning your time, with His company getting ready to fly out to Germany, then Kuwait city.  Were there any volunteers taking pictures of our Heroes at that time frame?   He called me here in Arkansas 12:00am my time. He had to go get some free cookies as he hung up.  Thank you very much for your time and your patience.   0000RAH !!!     E.McG.

Elaine, I deployed in Sep 06 and am currently in Iraq.  I downloaded the great pictures you guys took and signed up for the weekly emails.  I wanted to thank-you and all the dedicated ladies at Freeport Flag.  My time has finally come to return to Hawaii.  Keep up the hard work and know that it is very much appreciated.

Hi and thank you so much for everything you do. It truly makes a difference in the people you are supporting. Your photos brought tears to my eyes, and it's nice to show the people around me as well. I saw that you can request certain photos and I would like to ask you to send a few from October 15. I would like to make him a scrapbook of all of his journeys, in the Navy and out. These would make a great addition.

Once again, sincerely, Thank you so much. It was great for me to see him smile one last time before he left the U.S.  What you did was a great morale booster for all of them.

 Sincerely, Beth D.

I want to tell you THANK YOU so much for the pictures that you sent to me. You don't know how it feels to see his face one last time.

You are doing such a great service to both the service member’s and their families.

Again, thank you for taking the time to be there for them and thank you also for the time it takes to answer each and every last email and even sending us pictures!!! May God Bless you in everything that you do.

Sincerely, C Branch

I would like to receive these pictures taken in New Hampshire Sept 30, 2007

Theses are the only pictures I have seen of my son since he left, and I am so grateful for the sight of these pictures. And I am grateful for the Freeport Flag Ladies and all that you do. Thank you so much and those who joined in greeting our Soldiers. I would be forever grateful if the picture could be sent to my e-mail so I could get them and put them in my son’s military scrapbook he bought for me before he left. Thank you so much and God Bless you all.

Sincerely, A proud soldiers mom

Hi, I want to thank you ladies from the bottom of my heart for what you do for the troops.  My second son in the Army came through your place on October 14, 20007 and he said he was over whelmed.  You ladies are angels for doing what you do for our children going over there.   …This is my second son over their now and my baby boy I hate the idea but that is their job.  We are waiting for my older son to come home in November after 15 months being over there.

Both of my sons have sons under 12 months and that makes it even harder for them.

Well thank you very mush again for what you do.  GOD BLESS YOU ALL! N.P.D.

I was happy to see the pictures you had with my fiancée. I've been going crazy so far even though he only left on Tuesday (Sept 25th, 2007). This is both his and my first time dealing with deployment. And I'm having kind of a hard time. Not being able to talk to him as often will be my biggest struggle. I love him so much and am praying daily that god is with him and will bring him home safely. I catch myself doing this daily when I am out an about. He'll just come to mind and I start to pray. I'm just taken this one day at a time. And seeing those pictures made my day... Thank You for what your doing!!!, S.M.Y....

Hello Ladies,

I want to thank you so much for what you do and special thanks for meeting my son on Oct. 9th. He is in the Army and they are on their journey to Iraq.  You put a huge smile on my face when I saw the pictures of all of you greeting our troops. My son is the short one in a group picture who was making a face and giving the thumbs up sign. What a special treat you provide and it’s so terrific for the troops and the families to see that so many people care and respect the troops.

Thank you again, those pictures were priceless!

 An Army Mom, J.H.H.

Hi, First I would just like to thank you for all that you all do.  I just recently got an e-mail from my key volunteer (wives for the marines in Arkansas) to check out your website to see if you see your husband.  You made my day by posting the picture of my husband.  We are newly weds and I miss him so much!  Just seeing his goofy face made me smile from ear to ear!! Thank you again for everything!! God bless!

If you could would you please e-mail me the picture from September 26th, 2007 page 10 picture number 2 (it’s the one with the guy sitting on the floor with a really funny face eating Doritos!  That’s my husband Danny!!!

 With love, B.S.

Dear Flag Ladies,

Would you mind if I copied some of the photos from your website, and sent them to my brother, who is currently serving his second tour in Iraq. I have told him about you Ladies, and all you have done for the spirits of those in the service and everyone affected by life in the world today.

My sons and I joined you on your tribute for 9-11, and although I took a photo of my boys, I never thought to take one of the Flag lined street.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. You ladies are much admired and much appreciated. Your actions have touched so many.

THANK-YORita

Hello Ladies,

My husband left for Iraq and had to go to Maine to fly overseas on Tuesday October 9th. I was looking at your pictures for Tuesday and I saw my husband and I couldn't help but cry. I am so glad that you guys were there to show them your support when none of us army wives could be there. I am so happy that my husband got to meet such great people. I'm glad that he saw that there are people in our country that support them 100%. You are angels in disguise and what you do for our troops is a blessing. It makes me and my fellow army wife’s feel more at ease that they were shown such warm-hearted kindness before leaving. Thank you again ladies.

Sincerely,

M.P. Army Wife

Dear Freeport Flag Ladies,

Thanks so much for the wonderful work that you do. Knowing that your group was there to send off our son was comforting. One of you took his picture while he was talking on the phone to me, and I could hear you telling him that you were proud of him. We can never thank you enough for those words.

Again, thank you for everything!

M.B.K (A Marine's mom)

Please send me the wonderful photos of my husband. September 9 at Pease International  Thank you so much for the work that you do.  It is greatly appreciated.  My husband was so excited to be greeted by all of you.  It makes him remember why he joined the military.

Thank you again K. D.

My husband is with the 213th Medical Company based out of North Little Rock, Arkansas. I am the Family Readiness Group Leader for this unit. THANK YOU SO MUCH for this. A FRG member emailed me the link. I am going to forward the link to the rest of the FRG.

My son (2 years old) and I were just looking at this site and he saw his daddy. You should have seen his eyes light up. You do not know how much this has lifted our spirits as we’re going through this difficult time

Again thank you from the bottom of my heart for this. If you could PLEASE email me the original. It is very rare that I see him smiling in a picture. I would love to help you out with anything that you need.

God Bless, J.H.

This is a very very nice poem. It is really touching.

Elaine you sent me a picture of you and my son the beginning of this year when he was in Bangor and I treasure it. Thank you I wanted to let you ladies know how much I appreciate all you do. My son will be heading home from Iraq the end of this week, I do not know the day they will be in Bangor or if they even stop there? They are heading to Kuwait (spelling) on Sunday - they will need a few prayers that they get out okay.  I thank you for everything you do for all the service people and their families!  God bless keep up the great work!!

Hi Ladies,

I just found my son-in-laws picture on your website and immediately called my daughter.  I am in Round Rock (Austin) Texas; she is still at Ft. Bliss in El Paso.  She knew there was a website, and Adrian (her husband you so wonderfully took a picture of) had told her that you took his picture, but she couldn’t find it.  I found your website, called her at work, and we were both in tears.  It’s like a gift you give us all.  The picture you took of him shows him talking on his phone to her!  How perfect!

I had never heard of you or your website until now, but you better believe I am spreading the word!  You are wonderful wonderful ladies, thank you so much.  I’m sure you hear this a lot, but I couldn’t let the night go by without sending you a thank you note.  I didn’t realize how many people would be in these pictures, on these flights.  When you have a loved one going to Iraq, you feel like they are the only one in the world going over there.  The pictures are great, and once again, you all are wonderful for doing this for the rest of us.

Thank you again, from me and my daughter. T.R.

Firstly, I again want to thank you for what you do for the troops. I am the wife of a Soldier deployed in Iraq, and when he went over, you were there to give some comfort and support. I can only hope and pray that on his way home, he is able to be blessed by all of you once more.

Secondly, I want to say that you are all an inspiration to the rest of us. You three are what all American's should be like. Unfortunately that is not always the case. I sometimes think that the three of you care about our Soldier's more than some of their own families.

Thirdly, when 9-11 happened, it was like a new breath was breathed into all of America, and our country as a whole was again filled with the patriotism that founded our nation. Unfortunately as the years have passed, it seems as though much of our nation has forgotten or lost that passion that we renewed on that unforgettable day; but you have not. That in and of itself is an inspiration.

Lastly, I wish that I could be there tomorrow with all of you, and all of your supporters. Waving a flag for my country and my Husband. Instead, my thoughts and prayers will be with you from Ft. Huachuca, AZ. I hope that our nation can once again regain the passion and pride for our beautiful country that we once had, without another tragedy to ignite it. May God Bless you in all of your worthy endeavors!

With Thanks and Love, P.G.

A very proud Army wife!

Ladies,

We do not live in Maine now but I wanted to tell you thank you from the family of a Marine who will be returning from his 5th trip, via ship with a Marine Corps Air Wing, to the coastline of Iraq. You are doing these men and women a great justice with all that you do. I could only hope that there is a group like yours in every town and city in America. I know there isn’t but wouldn’t it be great? Again thank you from the heart we love what you do for our sons and daughters now fighting for our safety around the world.

I saw two photos on your website that I would like to have emailed to me.

Thank you for taking time out of your own busy lives to show support to these brave men and women. It means a lot to my husband and me to know that you were there, and I know that my son appreciated it because he called to tell us that night.

Thank you, B.E.

Proud mother of a Marine

How wonderful!!!   My daughter called me after she got home and found the picture.  It is now the screen saver on her computer.  He is doing well; he’s in Kuwait, awaiting transport to Iraq.  He just got back from there last December.  When he left this time, he left from Ft. Hood, not Ft. Bliss, so my daughter wasn’t even able to be with him right before he left.  It really broke her heart.  Your picture made her feel so much better.  You even got his little ‘slight’ smile that is so him.  Thank you so much for that.  He was really sad when he started talking to her, leaving the country makes it seem so final.  However, he brightened up when you took his picture while he was talking to Laura.  Your timing was excellent.

Thanks again, and also for sending another picture.  You ladies really go the extra mile.  I wish I was closer so I could hug you all !!!!!!!!

With much appreciation,T.R.

I would just like to say thank you, thank you, and thank you. My husband came thought there August 18 and when the link to your web site was attached to an FRG letter, I could not wait to look.  It made my day to see a picture of my husband. I think what ya'll (yes, I am from Texas..hahaha) are doing is great.

Thanks again!!!!!!

You all met my husband's unit on August 18th.  There were so many wonderful pictures.  Thank you for the pictures and for honoring them at a time that was difficult for them.  They looked very happy in the pictures.

My husband has been in the army 22 years and has been Special Forces and Special Operations for most of that.  I know this was a foreign experience for him since they almost always left, usually in the dark, with very little time to say goodbye and definitely no fanfare or appreciation from the public.  But they went without a second thought and did an outstanding job sometimes at a very high cost.  In the pictures, it was evident that my husband enjoyed every minute he shared with you all.  Thanks with all my heart.  Keep up the good work-it is one of the most important services to our country.

Dear Freeport Flag Ladies,

My son left on September 1st for deployment in Qatar.  I was excited to see his picture on your website!!  He was the only person that I’m aware of from his base that left on this day.  However, when I saw all the military personnel that you greeted just on his flight, I was truly amazed!  Because I hadn’t heard of our group, I took time to read your history, etc.   What a wonderful commitment you’ve made!!!  Truly you have touched the hearts of many!!  Keep up the amazing work!!

Thanks so much!!! E.S.

First and foremost, I would like to THANK YOU for all you do! I felt very sad knowing that I couldn't see my son off. What a wonderful surprise I received when he called, on your loaned cell phone, to say he had made it safely and was fine. He told me how you were there to greet him and send him off at 1:30 in the morning. THANK YOU for being there! It means so much to the Marines & Soldiers. It meant even more for me, a Mother, who couldn't be there, for her son, to give a last minute hug or words of love and appreciation. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart! Y'alll are GREATLY appreciated! You are earning your angels wings and rightly deserve them. May God continue to Bless you and all the Marines & Soldiers you come into contact with.

I would like to request a copy of the pictures of my son, Marine LCPL E. Chavez. He arrived in Maine on August 26th. The first photo is on page 2, photo # 1 and the second photo is on page 5, photo #3. Thank you so much for giving my son a warm welcome & a great send off. I'm sure he will be even happier to see you when he returns from Iraq. Thanks again!!!

With Love & Respect, J.C.

Hello! Our grandson was one of the Marines you greeted, shortly after midnight, Aug. 27. Besides being pleased that people care about him, he was especially glad that it was people from Maine who were willing to be there and show their support. You see, there's a Maine connection: his grandfather and I...and his mother...are Maine natives. We now live in Las Vegas, NV, but our Maine connection still is, and always will be, very strong. Andrew grew up hearing stories about Maine and now he has experienced, thanks to you, what patriotic Maine-iacs really are.

Thank you for all you do! R.S.

Hello,

I just received a call from a man I love very much.  He just stepped off a plane in Maine. Destination Iraq.

It is hard sending the man you love off to war.  But It some how made me feel better when he called because he said you were all there to greet him.

It helps them, and means, more to then than you know.  When people recognize their sacrifice and strength it sends them off knowing what they do willingly is worth it.

It is also easier for us (me) back home knowing there are wonderful people like you doing this for the people we love. God Bless you.

He said he may be in a photo because you ladies loved his baldhead.  (Not nearly as Much as I do..)

Sincerely, K.N.

Hi. I was given this web page from my husband from the 1-168 AV. Ft. Lewis, WA, whom you so kindly gave him a bear and a penny, I do believe. He also said that his photo was taken and would be placed on your web page.

Where would that be, so I can find it and when it is put up, is this a photo that I would be able to purchase to put into his scrape book?

My husband was very overjoyed that people were there to great them and show that someone out there cares about what they are doing.

For that, I myself say thank you for caring about my husband and all of his fellow soldiers, whom are all family.

If you could please pass on the information about the photos, I would be grateful.

 Thank you, M.H.

Hello WONDERFUL ladies!!

I am writing you from Las Vegas, Nevada.  Last night (Aug 26, 2007) my son was one of the Marines you were there to wish good luck as he left for Iraq. He is not even 21 and this is his 2nd visit over there. I wanted to personnallllllly THANK YOU for being there.  I know it meant a lot to him --and his buddies, BUT, more to me. See, I was born in --and grew up in Auburn until my parents decided to make to move out west. To have some REAL Maine-iacs wishing my son well means the world to me!!! GOD BLESS you all and what you are doing for OUR TROUPS!!  My family and I will be watching the website for his pictures.

Hello I just wanted to thank you ladies for the time you take out of your lives, to show appreciation to those who give their life for us. I was on the phone with my boyfriend a U.S Marine who is on his way to Iraq for 6 to 7 months and he gave me your web address saying you had taken a picture of him on the phone with me. I have read your info and I think you are wonderful women and god bless you for you are blessing others. Thank you

 K.B.

Hi!  Just a note to say thanks for what you do!  I had no idea until our son who just let for Kuwait yesterday that you did this – just thanks.  I have no idea is our son’s unit is on there but think it’s just super that you are there to shake there hands, telling them thanks, taking their pictures – it means so much to this mother.  Thanks from the bottom of my heart!

Dear, Dear Ladies:

There's no way I can thank you enough for the wonderful things you do for the service men and women.  I can see on my son's face how happy he was to be there in Bangor.

For several years now, I have been working with Adopt-a-Platoon, trying to say thank you to these young men and women, but in no way do I approach anything you do.  Thank you again.

You really are an inspiration, and I've already talked to some friends about coming up with a way to honor the men and women from Warwick who are serving right now.  I shall let you know what we come up with.  Thank you again.

Hi, my husband had the pleasure to meet you on Sunday night, when his unit came thru Bangor on their way to Kuwait. I just wanted to send you a thank you for treating him and his fellow soldiers with the dignity and respect they deserve.

I am in for a long and lonely trip, but to know that there are still great people like you, my heart can rest a little. Again, Thank you for all you do.

God Bless, K.C.

Dear Freeport Flag Ladies,

Thank you so much for sending me the pictures and this nice email. Most of all thank you for supporting our troops!!!!

My husband called me and told me you greeted them at the airport and that meant so much to all of the soldiers!!

Thank you again! Lisa

You guys are just awesome!  I have found the “back” side of my son in two pictures but thanks for the offer, really do appreciate it but I thank you more for your kind and caring words.  It was helpful to see the smiles on their faces yes indeed but it made me feel so proud to know that people recognize and appreciate what they are doing for our country and that you understand what the families are feeling and need.  I do feel better knowing that the soldiers are loved and being prayed for.  You bring light into sometimes a dark and uncaring world, thanks for spreading that light.

Thank you for being such a proud American!

M.B.J.
