Letters from Families & Troops
Good Morning Flag ladies from Freeport Maine, I just wanted to say thank you for all that you do for the Soldiers. Having your support means a lot. I am a First Sergeant in Afghanistan currently. I was in our laundry room one day and found an article in the Readers Digest about the three of you. So I have been wanting to write you. I was born in Damariscotta, Maine and raised in Wiscasset, Maine. My family still all lives there between, Bath, Damariscotta and all the way to Appleton. I am currently stationed at FT. Campbell, KY and have been off and on through the last 15 years. I've been through three deployments since 2003 after my return 6 months prior from Korea. I've been to Iraq twice and this my first time to Afghanistan. It's really nice to know that there are people out there that really support the Troops. Hopefully you all understand the mission that we have is for a good cause. We would all rather be home with our families, but sometimes we have to do what is right. The people of Afghanistan need us and hopefully the citizens of the U.S. understand that. We're not here digging for oil, we really are trying to make their land work for them, giving them roads and also helping them get a better education. There is a lot more that needs to be done, so keep supporting the Troops. I say thank you from the bottom of my heart. 1SG GW B Troop 7-17 CAV "BLACKJACK 7" TF ATTACK 3-101 AVN FOB Salerno, Afghanistan
Hello ladies - Just wanted to say a quick thank you for all you do. My husband is a U.S. Marine and where I live, I see only a lot of negative feedback about the war and those involved in it. A friend e-mailed me your site and I just wanted to applaud you for all that you do. I know that you don't do it for the recognition, and that's what makes it even more special. Thank you for spreading love to all of our troops, and for cheering on all of the men and women going into some of the scariest places on earth. You are an inspiration! KT Proud Wife of LCpl T, USMC
Hi! My name is Gwen and I am still a fairly new army wife! My husband deployed this week and this is our first deployment. I was not expecting to hear from him until at least a few days after he would actually get to where he was headed. I was sure surprised when I got a call from Maine the night he left! I really appreciate everything you do for our troops. Keep up the great work! My husband told me all about how you took his photo and gave him a special penny. It really made his night and it felt good to know that you were all there to give him and his comrades encouragement and support. Once again thank you so much for your dedication! God bless you!!! Love, Proud Army Wife, GW
Hi folks: I just want to say your images of flying those flags have been an inspiration filled with pride. It seems like yesterday when we first came in contact with you guys on Labor Day. I recently returned here to Iraq after leave and spending time with my wife and spent more than hour talking about the Labor Day of 08, when you guys wished us well on our mission. In three months I will be returning home and hopefully travel to that patriotic neck of the country near the fall time frame. I think about how great you folks treated us and hope my wife gets to see an event like you provided us. 1SG DM
You Are Great Americans, to quote Sean Hannity. I wish every one of us Americans would have the same level of patriotism that you three have. We take so much for granted in this country, but how blessed we are. I just tear up just thinking about our ending song and you three gals coming out – it will get a standing ovation, I know it will. Thank you so much for participating in our show this year. We love you gals, My sister (active full time Army Reserve) was military, ex-husband (Navy), brother (Army), and my boy friend (Marine), so I know the sacrifices that our military make. And God bless you three for recognizing them. I know when Bill returned from Viet Nam there was no welcoming at all, people didn’t want to talk about it – terrible time in our history. Thank you for giving me editing licensure with your graphics, just want you to get all the recognition we can give you. Thanks so much,SS
Hi again ladies and thank you for the response. I was surprised that you did so quickly, you guys seem so busy. You are very special people doing all that you do. I am grateful that you do it. I would love for you send me any pics you have. You are very correct that our goodbyes are tearful and for me this is the second time around. We had our physical goodbyes when he went home to CO after the holidays, and since has been only phone calls because I was unable to go to CO to see him off. My daughter-in-law opted to come home and stay with me for his deployment. My other son flew out to see Randy off and to drive his wife back here … Thank you so much for being there for him, as it has given me the chance to be there with you both through the pictures. Again I thank you so much for giving me this "time" with him, being a joyful one without the fear tears that were shed when we last parted company. God bless you ALL!!! I now realize that when my son says he doesn't feel any need for special attention that he doesn't mean it isn't welcome, its just not expected. I cried when I read your letter. You said "the soldiers and their families” and I always think of his sacrifices but not my own, because his are so much more scary for me. So even though I didn't expect any celebrity for myself it's a wonderful feeling. So thank you for all you have done and continue to do. LR
Hello. My husband recently deployed back to Iraq and thanks to you, I was able to see a picture of him on this way there as he stopped in Maine. I would like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your patriotism and support of our country and our troops. My husband and I are very proud of this career and appreciate those who fully support and understand the sacrifices all troops make for their family and their country. He is a SSgt in the Marine Corps and loves it. Thanks again for your support and for posting pictures of our troops!!! :) AA
Hello, I hope this email finds you in good health and in good spirits It is absolutely amazing what you ladies do and I truly appreciate your dedication. I didn't think I would see him in a picture but when I did it brought tears to me eyes. You captured a photo of the way my husband looked the last day I saw him. That's priceless to me. I could never express to you how thankful I am you took that photo. He's scheduled to return home in late August. Thanks so much again for what you ladies are doing. You are touching the hearts of many. Sincerely, BC
Good Afternoon Ladies! My husband was deployed with the 2nd Marines/1st Division on January 29th. He is a Captain and proud Marine officer of his fellow Marines. You ladies and your group of greeters are so wonderful for what you do to show our Marines how supportive you are of them. They know they have the support of their families however they need reorganization of support from our fellow countrymen/women. Looking through the photos, I saw two of my husband, Captain. I would love to get copies of the photos so that we can cherish them. The photos are from January 29th, 2009 Flight I Marines Thank you again for what you do! It means the world to the Marines and to their spouses and families back here at home. Sincerely, Mrs. KB
Some 15 months or more ago you ladies helped say goodbye to our sons and daughters from the 3rd ACR out of Ft. Hood Texas for Iraq. Last night around midnight our son pulled into the driveway here in Farmington, NM to start his 30-day leave. Thank God he's home, safe and sound and a much bigger man than when he left. I've read all the poems and wishes you post so often and I'm sure God heard all your prayers for their safe return. Thank you for everything. God bless you and all you do. C & S D
Flag Ladies, Thank you so much for the wonderful pics from Feb Army Flight 1. My son appeared in some of them. I always love to see him with a full teeth smile, and he doesn't usually do that. So you can imagine the happy tears I enjoyed when I saw those teeth. He feels what he does does not grant him any celebrity status, but I feel it does. It was wonderful to see him happy while getting some recognition. I will miss him every second of every day that he is gone. It will be a blessing to be able to pull up this picture, I may even make it my wallpaper. You are doing so many things for the troops and I want you to know that they are appreciated by not only the troops but the families of the troops as well. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILIES!!!!! Thank You, Proud Mother of SGT R
Thank you ladies for what you do for our country. We appreciate receiving your messages and what you are doing for our young men & women in the military. The families of the 4th Engineer Battalion were very grateful for the pictures you all took and sent to Ft. Carson. Becky and I, parents of LTC KL, battalion commander, are very grateful to you all. May God continue to bless you and God bless America. J & B Have a great day!
Have I told you lately what amazing folks you are? This is quite adorable. My husband often asks, "Where would you like to go on vacation?” The truth of the matter is that I would just love to be with you on a Tuesday morning and simply be in the presence of women who know how to be the hands, heart and love of Christ to so many on a regular basis. You are definitely an inspiration. May God continue to bless you with many "God-things" in the days to come. Debi Ladies Thank you so much for what you all do for our military. I am the father of the commander of the 4th Engineer Battalion who you all greeted Sunday night, both flights. You made a lot of family members happy to see the pictures and to know that their soldiers were receiving a warm welcome and sendoff. My wife and I were able to go and visit our son and his family in late January. We live outside of Atlanta, GA. Thank you for what you are doing and may God continue to bless you, our military and God bless America. I have attached a picture of our son and his wife as the battalion was preparing to leave Ft. Carson. Again, thank you for you service to our young men and women and their families. Jim & B L
Dear Ladies, First I must thank you for all you do for our sons and daughters. The pictures that you took we most compelling. Everyone should see your web site. I know I am giving it to all my friends and family. Now, because I am like any other grandmother, I would like the picture of my grandson Thank you again for being there. Gram K.
I know that you angels have many loved ones and you cannot remember them all... but I just want to THANK you again... You supported me and saw my son off to Afghanistan THREE years ago! I have NOT forgotten! SIncerely and with LOVE, DS Proud Mother of US Army Specialist SS (combat Veteran disabled) Home, safe and completed his duty...
Just wanted to say thank you so much for what you ladies do for our troops, I'm a wife of a Marine who is now deployed in Iraq, I thought I would get a glimpse of him but, I didn't. But, that doesn't matter just seeing what you do and seeing the other Marines, make me so happy and proud. Keep up the good work you ladies are great... God Bless!
Thank you so much for doing this for our soldiers! My husband loves meeting people that are thankful for the job he does. Thank you so much!!! I can't describe how much my daughters and I are thankful that you ladies were there when they touched down in Maine to take pictures and shake their hands! It means so much to us!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!! Sincerely, SH
Ladies I really appreciate what you do for all of soldiers, thank you so much for allowing the families to see the pictures you take because without you guys being there to support our soldiers we would never have a chance to see special pictures like these, again thank you Freeport flag ladies for all you do. Thank you so much you ladies are very special to all the families at Fort Carson, Colorado. KC
Dear Ladies, I can't tell you how much I appreciate what you do for our troops. My husband just left for Iraq and my FRG sent a link to your website. I went through pages of pictures and finally found one of my husband. It absolutely made my day and put a huge smile on my face as well as my 4-year-old son's. I would greatly appreciate a copy of the picture. Once again, thank you so much. You are all wonderful. Sincerely, HH
Just wanted to send a quick email to thank you for this wonderful service you are providing! My son is a Marine in Iraq now and I was able to find him in you Meeting the Troops section. Just to get a glimpse of my son on his way was wonderful! Thanks for everything you do! FJ
Ladies Thank you so much for what you all do for our military. Again, thank you for you service to our young men and women and their families. J & B L
Just wanted you to know that your kind welcome and photos of the troops is so appreciated by all of us family members. You know those tough Army soldiers may be too macho to send us photos of themselves with their troops, so your photos are such a blessing to the families. Our family is right now enjoying these photos from France to Texas, Pennsylvania to Florida - and we'll share them with friends everywhere. Thanks for all you do to preserve the true spirit of being an American! God Bless You JB
You are all awesome! Even your snowmen are patriotic! I am so thankful for your faithfulness to our soldiers. My two sons are headed to Iraq, one for his second deployment and the other for his first. Knowing you are there to see them leave U.S. soil gives my heart comfort. You are our arms and hearts when we can't be there. God's blessings to you, DC
Hello, I just want you to know what an honor and privilege it is to have fellow Americans with such loving and kind hearts. Thank you each and everyone for the spirit and hospitality which you show for our troops that pass through. God Bless you all. My niece’s U.S Army group flew from Colorado to Bangor to refuel and the reception which they all received. My mother in law is visiting her mom in Florida and she phoned me to tell me of your beautiful website. When I looked at the pictures tears just over flowed. I was so very touched. To have such a vast amount of people greeting them such as you all do over and over again. You are all truly Earth Angels. I thank you all for giving her such a fantastic out pouring and letting her know that she is truly appreciated. Thank you all so very much. If I were there I would hug each one of you to let you all know that you are so deeply appreciated too. God Bless. Sincerely BAC
God Bless You All. Stay bundled up and keep warm! You ladies don't know how wonderful your efforts are to me. I appreciate all you are doing. I got chills reading your e-mail! From Balad, Iraq MSgt AB
Hello Patriots, First of all, I just want to thank you for being who and what you are. On Friday, 6 February, you photographed my husband's unit during their layover in Bangor, Maine. He is 1SG of 61st Chemical Company, Fort Lewis, WA. As we were talking on the phone, someone took his picture. I would love to have it emailed to me if possible. I wanted to relay to you some of the thoughts of the soldiers that you may not have heard. This is the first deployment for most of these soldiers. They were overwhelmed by the support of the members of your group. Ya'll reminded they exactly why they do what they do everyday. Ya'll made them see who they were sacrificing the next year for. Ya'll made them even more proud to do it. My husband just laughed because he had those same feelings when he came through your airport when he deployed in 2007. He actually recognized some of your group from then. It is obvious that your group is as dedicated to supporting our troops as they are of protecting our country. From a military spouse thousands of miles away, I just wanted to thank you for giving my military family the support they needed as they embark on this deployment. They all know that we support them with all of our hearts, but it is great to see that others do too. Thank you, MBwife of 1SG 61st Chemical Company, Fort Lewis, WA
Hello there, First of all I want to thank you so much for taking these pictures so that friends and family can see our loved ones. My boyfriend who was in these pictures said they were greatly honored and appreciative of your support Sunday! Thanks again for the time and warm welcome you gave our loved ones on this day and all the other days! Sincerely, DA
YOU ARE ALL AMAZING! I know some days must be difficult--cold, snow, wind, so much easier to stay in your warm beds--but there you are, touching hearts around the world. Thought you might enjoy the attached newsletter. My son is the LTC of his unit and is sending newsletters periodically to the families in his unit. You were a part of his first one, and thought you might like to know. Your deeds reach far beyond anything you can imagine! THANK YOU! KR
I’m a Proud Marine Wife. My hubby left for deployment yesterday and he said you guys were actually there to meet them and take pictures. He gave me your website and told me I can look at the pictures you guys took, you guys got one or a few of him and Id love to know when your going to post the pics you took of the Marines you met tomorrow. Thanks so much for what you do ladies. Sincerely Mrs. S -- Hello Ladies - February 8, 2008 my brother left for Iraq out of Maine airport. I happened to be on the phone with him when he spoke to one of you ladies and you took his picture. I was just wondering when you would be posting the pictures from yesterday. I would have loved to see such a sight of everyone there in the airport but I believe I have the next best thing through you, which will be the pictures. I want to tell you all that by looking through your website you are giving a lot of families pictures of their loved ones that will be cherished for a long time to come. You are serving this country right along with the service men and women and for that we all should thank you as well. I hope to hear from you soon. Thank You AJ
Hello All! I first want to thank you for being there to greet all out troops when they pass through. You cannot imagine how comforting it is to know a friendly face and welcome waits for my soldier every time they make their last stop on their way out of the country and their first stop as they return home again. You have my utmost gratitude and appreciation to be there knowing that if I cannot, someone who cares just as much can be! My husband sings your praises to any soldier who has never passed through your fair city and looks eagerly forward to the warm greeting you all provide. Thank you again for all you do your commitment to our service members is greatly appreciated! With my deepest gratitude and appreciation, MW
Hello there, First of all I want to thank you so much for taking these pictures so that friends and family can see our loved ones. Is there any way you could send me a photo of the marines from Feb 8, 2009 … I would greatly appreciate it. My boyfriend who was in these pictures said they were greatly honored and appreciative of your support Sunday! Thanks again for the time and warm welcome you gave our loved ones on this day and all the other days! Sincerely, DA
Hello Elaine, JoAnn & Carmen Thank you for your email and kind words. I so appreciate your organization....it's making a difference in our lives. Thank you for emailing the pictures. I will forward to my whole family. Our appreciation and gratitude to all you are doing for our troops. God Bless You and thank you for your prayers and continued support. Ladies, Thank you so very much for greeting our troops at the airport!! It made me smile so much when my husband told me you were there saying hello and taking photos. My gratitude grew exponentially when I saw the photos and was so thrilled to be able to see my husband. I really appreciate your help and that you provide our troops with smiles and encouragement. Once again, thank you sooo much!! R.G.
Thank you so much for sending this…I didn’t see any pictures of my son, but last night he called me from Iraq…. I asked him if he saw you all there greeting the troops, he said.yes and I told him what you do…. I said pretty special huh! He said yes, WOW….he didn’t see anyone taking pictures but he said he talked to someone that had the same last name as him, “Fisher” and was given a coin……I don’t know what the coin had on it but he thought that was all pretty special, just you being there greeting them. Again I commend you, and cannot express in words what a wonderful thing you all are doing! The support these young men are getting means a lot. It was horrible how a lot of the public treated the Viet Nam Vets….My husband, his brother and my 2 brothers all served in Viet Nam. Thank you, and God Bless you all KA
Someone on the MarineParents.com site gave me a tip off that pictures of our recently deployed marines were on your site, I immediately logged onto your site and sure enough I found my marine in three pictures for January 29, 2009 Flight 1 Marines. It really made my day to see him there. I've been just terrible since he left but those pictures just made everything so much better. Thank you so much, I think it's an amazing thing, what you're doing and I just wanted to offer my heartfelt thank you! -Catherine (very proud girlfriend of LCpl 2/1)
DEAR WONDERFUL LADIES & VOLUNTEERS, I just received this email from my son telling about the FANTASTIC sendoff you gave he and his unit. I can't tell you how much it touched my heart! What a generous, wonderful thing this is that you do. I have emailed all my friends (because of course it's never things like this we see in the mainstream news), but please know, how very much it means to all of us--families as well. I'm sorry I don't live in Bangor or I'd join you in a heartbeat! You truly have touched so many--the smiles on all the faces tells the story. BLESS YOU ALL!!!!! KR
Ladies - First and foremost . . . THANK YOU! Our son recently passed through your area on the way to Iraq and you made our day by publishing several photos of him during the layover in Bangor. What you do is of tremendous benefit to our troops, but nearly as important to the loved ones they leave behind. I would like to request the photo be emailed to me. Again, thank you all so very much for being so giving of yourselves. Sincerely, G & B B
I am the mother of a Marine that you so graciously took a picture of in Bangor Maine on Jan. 29th. I have attached a picture of him so you would know which one he is. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. He is my only child and it has always just been the two of us for 20 years. He is a wonderful young man and will turn 21 in Iraq. I'm sure you know what you have done for my heart when I discovered your website and the pictures you took. Thank you just doesn't seem enough, but unfortunately that is all I have. I will continue to meet our troops at the airport here in NW Arkansas and I will be sharing your website with many others. You have given one mother a chance to have a peaceful nights sleep tonight knowing I could see my son and see for myself that he is ok. TB God bless you ladies and again, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Hi, My husband told me about your website and I just wanted to say thank you! My husband was in the New Hampshire group on January 20th. He was so overjoyed to know that someone cared enough to thank them for their service in the country. I just wanted to thank you for taking pictures. I did not get the chance to take any of him before he left. Seeing him on your website lifted my spirits since I am pregnant and won't be able to see him until the baby is almost here. It means a lot to me that you care about what our men have to sacrifice and I just wanted to thank you and can't seem to thank you enough! I think your website is absolutely wonderful. Again, thank you. HT
Hello Freeport Flag Ladies My husband called me and said that he met you ladies and had his picture taken. I would like a copy of that picture if possible. He is a Marine and he went to Bangor Maine. Thank you for all that you do for our service men &women. This means a lot to us back home to know that someone is taking good care of them and making sure they are well appreciated. The pictures are worth a million words and will forever be treasured. God Bless, Proud USMC Wife Erika
Dear Carmen, Elaine & JoAnn Hello ladies! I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your efforts for our troops. It really means a lot to me to see my husband receiving the welcome (and the send-off) that he and his Marines deserve. You have no idea how exciting it is to see him in those photos. I am very proud of my husband. He is such a wonderful man and an outstanding Marine. He wants nothing more than to do his part to serve his country, take care of his Marines and teach them how to be good leaders. I can’t say enough about him. He is my love, my life and my best friend. Thank you, T.O. USMC Wife
Hello Ladies! I was sent a link to your page by a friend whose husband is in your pictures. I think it is awesome what yall are doing. Being the wife of a deployed marine, I know how devastating it can be to not feel supported back home. You ladies are boosting the morale of these soldiers more than you could ever know. Thanks again!!! TW
My son, while waiting to be deployed to Iraq, was talking on the phone to me and my daughter-in-law. He was just finding out, after his wife had just had an ultrasound, that they were having a son, due June 10. A very significant moment caught on film. Thank you for this! We were very excited when he told us that his picture would be online. I think what you are doing is priceless. As a mother of a soldier, it means so much to me to know that so many Americans are doing so many wonderful things for the soldiers. Thank you and God Bless America! Sincerely, TS Mother of Cpl TS USMC, H&S Company
My husband deployed for his third tour to Iraq on January 23rd. This is his first tour since we had our son. He was on the phone and told me that they had a lot of support when they landed in Maine. Someone just sent me a link and I found his picture. He was on the phone with me. I am going to print it out and give it to my two year old to carry because he only knows that he can only talk to Daddy on the phone right now. It made me so emotional to see the picture because he is smiling and looks so happy. It lets me know it is really okay. Thank you so much again. JU
Dear Flag Ladies, First, I want to thank you so much for what you have done and continue to do to support our troops. We will send you some money to help out, as soon as payday comes again. My wife and I had traveled from Cincinnati, Ohio to Fayetteville, NC to help our son empty his apartment before he left for Iraq, to get his pickup truck, and mostly to be with him for as many minutes as possible before he enters harms way. After we left Fort Bragg, and drove north towards home, we were both thinking about him, and worrying already; he had not even left US soil! As we pulled off the interstate to find a hotel late in the afternoon, I got a call from Drew when the soldiers were stopped in Bangor. My wife and I were enormously relieved to hear his voice, to know he was getting fed well, and to know that he was among people who were treating him so wonderfully. Also, very grateful that there would be a picture of him on the web, since we had lost our camera at the hotel in Fayetteville before we could take a picture of our soldier! Thanks again for looking out for our boys in uniform. Bless you all, and best regards, TA
You wonderful ladies gave me one of the most wonderful gifts a Mother could ever receive. That is one last chance to see my son for many months. Most of all was to see the smile on his face, unlike when we said good-bye. God Bless each of you. You are what America is all about. My Love to you, NS
Hello Ladies, Great job girls. As someone who benefitted from your meet and greet welcoming party, I want to say thank you again very much. I will try to send them out of here with the respect and honor they deserve and let them know that you will be on the other end to welcome them there. Thanks again, Tim CMSgt. USAF
I was sent your website by a fellow military spouse. I knew my husband was able to call me when he got to Maine, but now I know how and I actually got to see a picture of him when he did it along with many others of him. It’s people like you ladies who touch the lives of so many, just with the simple things. It was a blessing to here him safe and sound a couple of hours after his departure from Ft. Bragg, NC. It was also a blessing to see pictures of my husband after I had personally taken the last ones I thought I would see of him stateside for a long time. I’ve already emailed them to many of my friends and family, but I can’t wait to see our 4 year olds daughter’s face when she sees them after school today. Thank you for all that you do! Sincerely,FB
Ladies, Thank you so much for your quick response. I absolutely understand your commitment to the deploying troops. Thank you for being there when they need it most. I have to admit I was being somewhat selfish. Our son is returning to CA where his wife and 2 yr. old son are waiting. We won't be able to go out there at this point and so I thought about you. The bottom line is that he and his Unit are ALL returning safely home and that's the most important part. I'll certainly pass along your gratitude, Fondly, PB
Hello, Dear Ladies, As a spouse of one of the soldiers that has recently deployed to Iraq, I want to give you a heartfelt thank you for the pictures that you've taken and posted on the web. It was such a joy to see my husband and to be able to go back any time and look at his picture. We have 2 young daughters (2 years old, 7 weeks old), and it was so much fun for the 2 year old to try to spot Daddy. Thank you for being so warm and welcoming as they began their long journey and many adventures completing their mission so far from home. You are truly gifts from God, and I am so grateful that my husband, and many others, had such a warm, caring send off--especially when they're families couldn't be with them. I am eternally grateful for the tremendous work that you do. With great regard, KB
I just wanted to say thank you ladies for the warm welcome you gave my husband and his group that came through the other day. He just called me from across the pond and was so impressed! He said he felt like a rock star! ...so proud!! Thank y'all for giving the love and support our men and women need! sincerely , JP Proud Special Forces wife!
Hello Flag Ladies, My husband is a Captain the Army. He was part of the group that you met in Bangor on Nov. 11. I want to tell you how much I appreciate your group supporting our military and going in person to show your support. Thank you so much for taking pictures! My husband is on his third deployment, and he doesn't really take a lot of pictures. So I feel like I'm missing out on even more when he's gone because I really don't see him at all, even through pictures. It really means a lot to me and my family that you take the time to go see the guys and post your pictures online. It is wonderful. As the wars drag on, a lot people kind of forget about our soldiers leaving so often and for so long. My husband's second deployment, to Iraq, was supposed to be a year, but was extended to 15 months. You were also with my husband's group on Veteran's Day. Which is something that I have NEVER been able to do. He's always been gone, either deployed or training. I have attached the photo that you took so you'll know who I'm talking about and also a picture of our family. We have three children, aged 12, 10, and 2. Thank you again for the support that you show. It's one thing to say you support the troops, it is quite another to go out and actually do something to support them. I can't tell you how much it means to my husband and me. Sincerely, Spring.
My husband was on a flight through Bangor on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 from Fort Hood. It was nice to see his picture and be able to pass it on to his family. He called while he there and said that the reception was wonderful and that he was overwhelmed with it. In his words, you all "were awesome!” Thank you for what you do!! KN
Dear Dear Ladies, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, my daughter sent me your wed address, as someone very special to her was deployed with the group of January 2009, you have given me many faces to pray for. May you continue to be blessed as you have blessed others. JH
Dear Freeport Flag Ladies, I am writing to you because our son came through Bangor Airport on January 4th. While we were talking to him, he said he had his picture taken. He told us to check the website of the Freeport Flag Ladies, which we did tonight. I want to thank you for your service to our young men and women who are serving in the military. My husband and I could not be with Mike when he deployed, so we are very grateful for the time you spend with him before he left the United States. Thank you again for spending the time with our boys and girls before they go out of country. It meant a lot to him and it means so much to us, Thank you. JC
My dear, sweet Flag Ladies ~ It's such a wonderful thing you do, seeing our boys off for us. And I commend you. What I did not realize, however, is what a profound impact your actions would have on me and my family. I would never have thought that some nice "little old ladies" way over in Maine could ever do anything that would be so incredibly far-reaching. I was so terribly wrong. I've often thought of trying to do something, anything, for our troops. But then I always wind up telling myself how futile it would be to even try - I mean, how in the world would I ever be able to do ANYTHING that would be worthwhile? I'm just me. I can't do anything that's going to really HELP anyone. I'm just me and then my own son was just deployed to Iraq. And he left through Bangor, Maine. My daughter-in-law called me and gave me the good news that she had finally heard from our boy. Relief doesn't begin to define the feeling. Now the real dread can begin to set in - he's really over there. When she called, she gave me the web site he had told her about. She had scoured the pages and found not one, but two pictures of my son. How wonderful, I thought. Another picture of Jim. Good. But when I went to your website, I was overcome with emotion. I realized just what it was you were doing. You aren't only seeing them off; you are instilling in them the knowledge that there are people who are grateful for their efforts and sacrifices. I had no idea just how profoundly moved I would be when I saw these pictures. I am forever indebted to you ladies for your kindness to my -and every other mother's- son. It is so heart-warming to know you're out there looking after them. We all live with that nasty little thought in the back of our minds -We might not ever see them again. Most of us are able to ignore it and pretend it's not there. But any little piece of our loved ones we can get is a golden treasure. And to see their faces one more time is, for some, the only other time they will get to see them. Thank you so very much for that little chance to see them again. And don't ever let anyone tell you what you're doing does not matter. It matters. IT MATTERS. So much so that I don't have words to rightly express the magnitude or the depth of how much it matters. You've given me something so very special. Thank you. Sincerely, BJ M, a very proud mother of a soldier in the US Army now in Kuwait and heading to Iraq
I just wanted to thank everyone involved in this group. You welcome my husband at the Airport in Maine on Jan 4th and posted pictures and just to see him smiling in some of them makes me happy! It's my first deployment as a spouse so I'm scared and sad and just to see any pictures makes me happy. What you all are doing is amazing! It really brightens a Soldiers day to be greeted and shown appreciation for what they do at a time like this! Thank you once again for what you do! Aloha and God bless, NR

I was so happy and surprised to get an e-mail from my FRG with photos of our soldiers in Maine! Thank you for all you ladies do! My husband had the biggest smile in your photos, and I would love to have copies! Thank you so much for bringing some happiness to him through this journey! My husband was in Bangor Maine on Jan 4 with the Army Flight. Thank you so much! I have shared this site with all our family, I know they will be so thrilled to see his smiling face :) Holly
My husband came through Maine on his way to Iraq on Dec 4, 2008 with the 82nd Airborne. He told me about your website and I would like to thank you for what you did for all the soldiers. My kids and I so enjoyed seeing the photos. I cannot thank you enough for the kind way you greeted the soldiers and want you to know how much those of us left back home appreciate your support. S.T.
Hi, I was a unit that came through your area on the 3 December 2008. I want to thank you on behalf of the 430th Transportation Company. We all appreciate the things you guys did for us that morning. I was full of tears for the thing you guys did. Thank you. There is one more thing that I would like and that would be the pictures that you have on your web site. Thank You Again SFC CW
First I would like to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!! I can never be able to express my gratitude for what you have done for my daughter and for our troop!!!!! You all made my daughter feel very special and appreciated when she arrived in Bangor and was greeted by so many beautiful and happy faces. She is my eldest child and is following in our footsteps in serving her Country. She will be the 4th Generation on my side and the 3rd on her father’s side of the family. This is her first deployment and of course we as parent are on pins and needles, but at the same time are very proud of her. NGG Respectfully,
Elaine, JoAnn & Carmen, I can never express my gratitude for what you all are doing for our troops. It makes me feel wonderful knowing that my daughter and her fellow Airman and Soldiers were welcome by such loving and beautiful people. As I mentioned before she is my eldest child and when she decided to follow in our footsteps we knew this day would come. Even though we try to prepare ourselves we can never really understand until the day actually arrives for their departure. But to know in these troubled times that she was appreciated by so many other people besides her family, lets us know that there are others who appreciate those that serve.
Dear Freeport Flag Ladies, The Nation owes you much. Keep up the good work and keep bundled up - we can't allow any of you to become ill. Your presence and support is gratefully appreciated. I am thankful you were there when I passed through in March of 2006. I will never forget you. RA COL USA (RET)
