I just wanted to say thank you for your reply, and the offer to send pictures. , Once again, thank you for all that you do. I am sure that sometimes when a flight comes in in the middle of the night you wonder if it is worth getting out of bed for. Please know that what you do is VERY appreciated by the soldiers and the families. I know my husband will be gone for at least a year, and it's nice to know that what we are giving up is appreciated by total strangers. It doesn't make it any easier, but we feel the love and support from people everywhere we go, and we do appreciate it. L.D.
Dear Freeport Flag ladies, I'm sure you can't count how many times wives, moms, and other family members have told you, "What you are doing is absolutely awesome! Thank you!" It warmed my heart to see how much love and gratitude you pour out on our service people. E. G.

GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU !!!!!!!! Wife of SPT.L. O.
Dear Freeport Flag Ladies, As you head to the hill this morning, I lift you up in prayer. Thank you for your compassion, prayers, and love. Thank your dedication, hard work, and time. I'm not sure that I can express to you just how much you have impacted my life. You were at the airport last November when my husband left for the Middle East (just as you have been for so many others) and you took a picture of him, his brother, and his best friend all sleeping on the floor next to each other. I look at that picture each day and smile. Ever since that day, I've looked forward to reading your message each Tuesday as it signifies another week past in this deployment. Now as it stands I have only 7 more Tuesdays until my husbands return. I cherish your words as they are a milestone for me each and every week. You are wonderful ladies with a mission that is so special. I praise you for your hard work and thank you from the bottom of my heart. I know that even when my husband is home I will look forward to your letter every Tuesday! I look forward to meeting all of you dear ladies someday, maybe even on a Tuesday! Thank you for the hope and encouragement that you have brought to my life in the past (sometimes trying) year. You ladies hold a special place in my heart and are in my prayers everyday. God Bless America God Bless our Troops And May God Bless you the Freeport Flag Ladies V. L. M.
Hello there. I know you probably don’t know who I am, but you did take a picture of me when we stopped in Maine. I was the girl sitting at the window with her head down and talking on the cell phone. But anyways, I just wanted to thank you for all you ladies do. I was looking at the website you all have up. It really is greatly appreciated. This is my first deployment and it happens to be in Iraq. I’m not really too thrilled or happy to be over here, I’m sure no one is. But it is just nice to know that there are people out there that care. And I just wanted to say thanks! Maybe I will see you all again when I get to go home! Take care and God Bless! N.P.
Thank you so much for that beautiful tribute to those we lost because of the evil that is amongst us. My son is an army medic and is still in Iraq. His unit has been there since last October and he hoped to be out of there second week of next month, October '06. I thought I would let you know that his unit has been classified all year but we know they have been in direct combat missions and have been through a lot which makes it even more important that you were there to see them off before they began their tour of Iraq. They have lost a buddy and sustained many injuries and sometimes morale was so low and they were so hot and exhausted, but they have made it to the last 4 weeks after spending a year there. Today they are remembering 9/11 too in ceremonies in Iraq because that is the very reason they are over there - to help keep the evil away from our shores. They are giving my son an award today in recognition for saving the life of a soldier and a civilian. He is and I am, very proud. And I am so pleased they realize what a wonderful young medic he is. As you know, all the heroes you have given so much love to, are so worthy of much more than an award or plaque. They are doing jobs over there that affect our very way of life back home. As you know, we could never hope to repay them in our lifetime but for now, I wanted you to know about one soldier, one medic, my son. To all the other mother's sons keeping our shores safe, we are forever grateful. Thank you for the love you show our troops. love D. F., Proud Army Medic Mom
Thank you so much for posting the beautiful pics of the troops. I have watched for my daughter on your site each day since she left for Iraq and today I found her. I would love to have the original. …What a wonderful, heartfelt thing you do for the military families and troops. I will cherish this picture. I have never seen her in the fatigues that she deployed in and it really hits home and squeezes my heart to see my little girl as she heads off to the Middle East. I am proud of her, yet I can't wait until her feet hit American soil again. Thank you again for taking her photo. It means so much to my family. W. P.
wow.......
I don't even no how to start thanking you ladies for what you do... I can only think of one word to describe it....... AMAZING..... It takes a very special soul to be so caring and compassinate, and nothing I can say on here will be able to even express how grateful I feel. My husband was recently deployed(again) and on the way to take him to the base, I had realized that my daughter forgot to get the camera like I had told her. We live an hour away from base and there was no way we could turn back, and at 3 in the morning there was no where 2 pick one up, I instantly felt sick to my stomach and the "what-ifs" started going through my mind. I have always got pictures of my husband with my children in his uniform the day he was leaving, because unfortunatey, the reality is you never no when it will be your last picture! You will never no how grateful I am to all of you because now my kids will have a picture of their daddy on the day he left. I know u probably get hundreds of emails so I won't make this long, but just know that from the bottom of my heart I will never forget your kindness and your complete un-selfishness. My husband has been deployed over seas 8 times, and I have never known such generosity!!!! Ur amazing women, and if there has ever been angels on earth I know some ladies that have filled those spots !! I will keep u all in my thoughts and prayers, and Until the day that I die I will not forget the memories you have given to all of us. Thanx once again for being so giving........ I will never forget you ..........P.D.
----- Thank you so much for your continued words of wisdom and encouragement. I look forward to Tuesday each week and your kindness and dedication. God Bless you All. Maj J. S.
I just wanted to say Thank You from a Marine Mom. I hear you treated our guys like "Rock Stars" when they flew through your place on August 20. My son was on his way to Iraq.
It wasn't easy to keep the smile on my face as his bus pulled away that Sunday afternoon. I remember thinking, "I only have to keep smiling for just a little while longer - the busses will be around the corner in just a minute - hold the tears back for just a little bit." Those were probably the loneliest moments of my life - watching my son leave for a combat zone. I drove to the airport, flew back to St. Louis and can hardly wait for the time I can see those busses pull around the corner again and this time hug him and hug him and hug him.
One of our key volunteers emailed me a few days later with a link to your website and the news that you all had met them at the airport and made them feel so welcome and special. I still pull up your website and search those photographs again for a glimpse of him.
You can't know how important it is for this Marine Mom to know there are people like you in this world. Thank you so much for letting them know how important they all are to us. Joyce
Ladies, I am tearful and so grateful to you for your actions of love and support and devotion to being a true American supporting our troops! I just visited your website to see a picture of my brother-in-law. You bet, this is already a screen saver! And the picture is precious to me, and our families. This is Mike's second trip over and we pray that he and all others come home safely. I wish you continued success and my prayers in your endeavors. May God Bless you, and America! Warmly, S. M. P.S. You bet my red, white & blue lights have been burning nightly on my porch, beneath my American flag - long may She wave!!!!!!
I was just on your web site and I must say this is an absolutely wonderful thing you ladies do. THANK YOU From the bottom of my heart, I see my brother on there and my does he have a big smile on his face, and I KNOW that's cause you all were there.... thank you so much. K.R.
Dear Elaine and Joann~ Thank you for responding to my e-mail. I wanted to commend you on the wonderful service you provide for our troops and their families. Although you weren't there when my son was in Maine...I am truly grateful that others had the opportunity to meet you and their families were able to see the wonderful pictures that you took. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers and keep up the great job that you're doing. All my best, R. H.
I have never heard of you ladies before until my father in law was deployed to Iraq the first week of September 2006. He wasn't even supposed to go via Maine, but he did and we are so glad too. What a wonderful group of ladies you are. Your site is so wonderful. You are doing a great job. I am still reading and looking at your site and am impressed. My father in law told us you took his picture and that is what led me to your site. I will be sure to pass your site via email and word of mouth. Thank you for all you do for the soldiers and the families. If I ever get to Maine, I will be sure to look you up. B.C.
Hi! I wrote you once before thanking you for the pictures of my brother on the net. I'm happy to say that he is coming home next month! I just wanted to write you again thanking you for the pics and for the e-mails you send me! They help me and I just love your little sayings! Keep doing what you're doing because you are making a difference! With much appreciation and God Bless You! L.
i think what all of you are doing is great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I started to cry when i saw my stepson on your website. i miss him and so does his dad! I have never heard of your website before and i printed the history and the pic's to hang up at work with all of our other co-workers families that are also in the military. I also e-mailed the info to all of my friends the link to spread the great info. we need something these days to make us smile. most of them are members of the American Legion and sals .he told us about the warm reception that they received. please keep up the great work and god bless! D. & K. L.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your August 20th pictures had my son in a few photos and since I was unable to see him before he was deployed it was the next best thing. Although I was in San Diego last Christmas to visit with him, it would have been nice to see him before he went to Iraq. But, thanks to the three of you I did get to see him. Thank You and may God Bless You. Keep up the good work because it is greatly appreciated.P.P.
Dear Flagladies, My husband recently came through Bangor on his way to Iraq, it was wonderful that you all were there to meet him and his group. I was able to talk to him for the last time stateside thanks to some cell phones that were provided when they arrived. I can't tell you how much that act of kindness meant to my husband and I. I look forward to seeing the pictures of when my husbands group arrived in Bangor soon. I really appreciate all that your group did to show support and kindness to the troops. I know that this probably isn't the first time you all have banded together to show love and support for the troops of America and I want to say thank you for your hard work and effort. What you all did was encouraging not only to my husband but also to me. Thank you Taylor family in Benton, Arkansas.
What a wonderful message to convey. If America doesn't stand up for Democracy around the world we will be giving up our birthrights as Americans. Thank you for your steady leadership. SPC T.G. and 1LT G. G.s Dad
Thank you for your steadfast presence. Knowing that each Tuesday you are at your post reminds me that in a world of constantly changing opinions and fashionable ideas, some hold true. God Bless our brave troops and thank you for finding this way to support them. P. McC.
This time last year you photographed my daughter, a Marine, Samas she prepared to leave for Iraq. Joyfully and safely she returned. However, she will be passing through your area again. She leaves for Iraq again tomorrow (WED) and we hope and pray she will return to us safely again. THANK YOU for the work you do and the support you give our soldiers. A. M.
My husband was among the many troops you welcomed at the airport on their way to Iraq today, August 21st. The gift you have given them is one of love and support and they will cherish it and carry it with them always. My husband was blown away. It is so important for them to feel appreciation not only from family and friends, but also from true red, white and blue Americans like yourselves. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for such a wonderful welcome and send off for my brave husband and all those who serve. You girls have certainly earned your wings as you are truly angels on earth God Bless You! Gina, Proud Army Wife and Proud Air Force Mom
I just want to say though I don’t know you personally, I wish I did. You and the rest of your friends in Freeport are an inspiration to the boys going off to Iraq. I thank you all and I pray for your quick recovery. I hope that you will be well soon. God Bless you and the Freeport ladies for all that you do for the young men and women going off to Iraq – a war that is really not ethical – it’s more about protecting oil rights, than it is about freedom.. I don’t agree with this war in Iraq but I do support our troops and pray for their safe return home. You need to get well soon, so you can hug my young nephew when he returns home, just as you saw him off, gave him a cell phone to call home, and finally, gave him a hug good bye. All of which he loved. It was so very kind of you ladies to post their pictures on the internet besides. I enjoyed seeing them. I cried to see how all of you helped these young people, cheering them up, and I cried to see their pictures and the loneliness already setting in. You took wonderful picture of my great nephew only 20 years old, so young to be going off to war. So innocent of war and what it will do to him, if he returns alive and in one piece. Anyway, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you have done for these young people going off to Iraq, and I ask God to Bless you and make you well. All of you are such an inspiration. God Bless you Elaine and if you’re ever in Florida be sure to e-mail me and I’ll buy you dinner for sure. Sincerely, C.A.
I would like to Thank You for what you are doing for our Servicemen and women, and their loved ones. My husband passed thru Maine on 20 August on his way to Iraq. He immediately called me and told me about the "ladies in Flag Shirts" greeting the Soldiers and taking pictures and to keep and eye out for his picture on your website. My mother-in-law and I have been checking daily and today their group's pictures were posted. (My mother has even been checking as well!). Thank you again! A.S.
I want to say that you ladies are doing a wonderful job with this web site. My Grandson called and told me about it and said to look for his picture, I looked right away and found that you have a wonderful site. Thank you so much for meeting our troops and giving them another send off that the families aren't able to do. Once they leave their base we are by phone contact only and knowing that someone else care is a blessing. B.
My Husband, SSG L. W. came through with the group that arrived there Aug 20th from Ft. Huachuca AZ, and I just wanted to tell you “Thank-you for all you do!” Your thoughtfulness is so appreciated. I had not heard of the Freeport Flag Ladies until now. Your story is amazing! From the bottom of my heart;” Thank-you.” My kids and I were thrilled...They were able to see a picture of their daddy and I got to see my husband! Thank-you again J. D.W.
My brother-in-law was deployed on 08/20/06. His wife is expecting their first baby this December. This is going to be a difficult time for her, but the pictures of him on your website brought her some happiness. Thank you for all that you do. Your generosity and appreciation that comes from the heart is the best gift you can give. T.B.
Dear Freeport Flag Ladies, Again, Thank you so much for your support and kindness. I would very much appreciate a copy of his picture. … Thank You so much for thinking about him and especially praying for him. Your support really does mean the world to us. To see three women who care so much about our husband and ourselves is a real inspiration. I am anxiously awaiting your reply. Love, P. G. A VERY Proud Army Wife
I would first like to thank you for making our troops so comfortable on there way over to Iraq. As a spouse, that really touched my heart to see my husband smiling in so many pictures. This also gave me the opportunity to show our daughter that her father was okay after he left us. This website is something that is needed to keep our soldiers morale high and known that there are people around this country that really appreciate the sacrifices they make to defends this country. K.G.
My son, Spc. L. was deployed to Iraq on the 2nd Flight ...on 8/21. I was so touched by all the things you do for our troops. I cried the whole time looking at the pictures of our soldiers. They look so tired, but yet happy and ready to go and defend our country. Words cannot describe how i feel...I am so proud of my son...he is only 21. He joined the US Army the day after he graduated High School. I have not heard anything since he left...but he did phone me when he arrived in Bangor, ...I tried to be so strong and not let him know how afraid I was for him...to me he is just my baby. Spc. L. has 2 younger siblings...11 and 9...they brag about him at school all the time. I will check your website every day and hope I see my son, Ben in one of the pics! But if he is not in any pics...that is ok...because I know that he was there and God is protecting and keeping him safe. All you ladies should be so proud of yourselves and what you do...you not only bring comfort to our soldiers but also to the mothers and wives of these young men and women. I put yellow ribbons around all 31 of our big oak trees at home and they will stay there until I see my son come home. I think about Ben every hour of the day. I worried and I prayed. When I went on your site my heart was so full of joy and pride of all of them...when Ben(ny) arrived in Bangor...he phoned home and told me that he was given a cell phone and some food, he said the ladies are so SWEET...he was very surprised at everything! So I had to email you and tell you how wonderful and generous you all are to them.. I miss him so much!!!! God is holding a special place in heaven for you!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart... sincerely ,,,,D.A.
Just received an email from my daughter-in-law at Ft Hood with your web site complete with pictures of my son on his way to Iraq earlier this month. Thank you so much for all you do for the troops and their families, I'm here at work at the Public Library in Ohio, boo-hooing and smiling from ear to ear. You all are angels!, S. K.
My husband recently deployed to Iraq and had the good fortune of landing in Bangor prior to the long journey over the Atlantic Ocean. He was able to call me from ME and told me of the wonderfully warm greeting he and the other Marines received. Thank you for your efforts in supporting the troops. It means a great deal to them and the families they leave behind. We are very appreciative of our support and especially enjoyed being able to see our loved ones on your website. Gratefully, B.K.
We were thrilled to see my husbands photos. Our 2 year old daughter pointed at the moniter and yelled "Daddy! Daddy!". Thank you again for being there for their support, it means a lot to all of us. When you have time could we please get copies of the photos? … The kids and I would appreciate them. Thank you for everything. God Bless you all. J.P.
First and foremost, I must thank you for taking the pictures and posting them. It must have made the soldiers feel so welcome and supported to have your group there to welcome them.
It was such a nice surprise to find out about this web-site and to actually see my husband. My son loved seeing a picture of Daddy. K.C.
I think what you are doing is excellent and whatever extra pictures you want to send from that flight is ok. I am making a scrap book for my husband my husband told me and called me right away told me about you all. He was happy, told me to keep an eye I’ve been waiting looking at every flight. I used to feel sad and lonely this is the first time that my husband has left. It was hard for him to leave. we have been married 18years but as I see those pictures I’m not alone they are very comforting. Thank you for your great support and making my soldier feel very proud keep up the great work and may god bless you all
I can't tell you how much this website made my day. I found several pictures with my husband in them. It means so much to me that you were there and posted these for us. The support you have shown means so much not only to me as a wife, but I am sure it meant the world to the soldiers. Thank you, and Bless you from the bottom of my heart for your devotion to our soldiers and their families!! Have a wonderful God filled day!! :) W.T.
Dear Freeport Flag Ladies, I just wanted to Thank You all one more time. I am so grateful to you three. The things you do for the troops are immeasurable! I was amazed that you would take your own personal time, just to look for a picture of my husband. You don't even know us, but you would do that for us. I wish that more people were like you. If there were, this world would be a better place. You are all soldiers to. You may not have taken the oath, but you fight for a better country every time you greet the troops. May God Bless you in all of your future endeavors! We are better for meeting you! Love, P. G. A Very Proud Army Wife!
I just received an email from my FRG contact informing me about the pictures on your web site. How wonderful! My husband left on August 21, 2006, Flight 1. Our first wedding anniversary is this Saturday the 2nd of September. Viewing the pictures you have taken the time to take and post on your web site was absolutely wonderful. May God bless you for all you do for the troops and their families. J.D,
I just wanted to say Thank You for supporting our soldiers and families. It puts a smile on my face to know that people like you really truly care and take the opportunity to do something this amazing as to greet soldiers that you do not even know as they get off the Air plain in Banger Maine. You truly can touch people from all over. I live in Midland Michigan, and I work with the families of deployed soldiers. I wanted you to know that because of what you are doing, you are able to put a smile on their faces as they scroll through the pictures and get that “one more glimpse” of their soldier before they leave our great country. God Bless You All. A.C.
Greetings! You can't imagine the thrill or the tears when I found my son's photo on your website. He warned me to look for him there thanks to being able to call me from the airport. While I am sure you have heard many thanks for the wonderful activities and things you are doing for America's troops, this thank you comes from the deepest part of my being. When my son, Tony, enlisted he did so in a time of war and knew he'd most likely go over to the Middle East. While no one in their right mind WANTS to do such a thing, for this young man it is all about duty and honor and country. Being a veteran myself with ties to many Vietnam era vets, Tony grew up with these men as his role models. As his mother, my son and his compatriots are daily in my thoughts. Never could I imagine someone with the strength and commitment to actually go do such a kindness for our troops. You can tell from the photo's that you folks being there really lifted some spirits and gave courage to those who fight our nation's battles. It would be appreciated if you could take time from your busy lives and email me the photo's I found of my son so that I might print the pictures off on a better quality printer. Any question he is the dark haired young man (hair???) he once chopped off 23" of hair he donated to Locks of love in high school heheha ). He is a good and wonderful and generous person who donates a big chunk of his inadequate army pay to a feed the children charity and to the soldier's family relief fund. He's just a wonderful son as well. If you would be so kind as to email me those photo's, I would be so grateful - although I already am having seen his smiling face today. Thank you and your friends for actually DOING something to help out!! That's also one of my son's pet peeves is the patriotic ribbons and bits that people show in a fad support of our troops but that very few actually take the time, money or effort to do something REAL for America. Thank you so many times over. Respectfully, C. H. - A soldier's Mom
Dear Freeport Flag ladies, I'm sure you can't count how many times wives, moms, and other family members have told you, "What you are doing is absolutely awesome! Thank you!" It warmed my heart to see how much love and gratitude you pour out on our service people. E.G.
Dear Freeport Flag Ladies
I ju st wanted to let you know thanks for the box of goodies as they always seem to come at the right time. We are beginning to pack and work our way home in 50 some odd days. Please don’t sent anything past mid September to me as I might not receive it. Your goodies always seem to lift and boost the spirits of those who come to our office. I am looking forward to when we stop in Bangor Maine and visit with all of those nice folks who welcome the troops home. Have a wonderful day! SSG E. M. 10th CSH UMT NCOIC Medical Task Force 10
Good Morning, This past Thursday our son returned from Iraq. He was met by veterans and families ... it meant so much to them. They came back thinking that they must be like the returning military from Viet Nam, but you let them know that they did make a difference, that America cares for freedom and justice. Actually, he said that listening to the American media while in Iraq was demoralizing to them. He couldn't believe that a nation who values what's right would make them out as losing. His words were "how can we win when our media paints us as the bad guy, were are not only fighting against the terrorist but the American media who is fueling the enemy." Thank you for your stand for the cause of freedom. You are to be commended for your courage and devotion. R.
Dear Ladies I have just discovered your web site. My son was at your airport. He called me on his cell while there at the airport and said Mom you will not believe how this town in the state of Maine has turned out to greet us. They have feed us and are now passing cell phones around for the men to call there families. He told me that hewas using his own. He was so very proud of how all of you there made them feel like he was family. I have always told him that people in Maine are very friendly as I was born and raised there. I have not been there for a very long time. I am now 64 years young and I was only seventeen when I left there. He is my third child born in 1964 so we have lived in Oregon all his life. He went back into the Army as he felt that he would be able to help some of these young men that are being sent there he wanted to train them to defend them self. He feels like a lot of us that we are loosing to many of our young to this war. I am very proud of my son for what he is doing and I know that he would want me to thank you for all that you do when our troops come there to board planes for Afghanistan and Iraq. I will let my son know that you have a web site and when he can I am sure that he will him self thank you. Yours Truly In Christian Love D. M. P.
I cannot express enough how wonderful you are. Y'all greeted my plane as we were departing for Kuwait and points beyond. You touched each and every one of us. The hugs & handshakes were physical, but the acts of kindness touched me much deeper than my skin and you shall each have a special place in my heart for so long as I shall live. God Bless each and every one of you! E.E. MAJ, SC, US Army
Thank you and God bless you for what you do. These guys and girls need to know that we love them and stand with them. My husband went through there on July 20. He left behind me and his three young boys. It hasn't been that long, but we miss him so much. I was thrilled to see him on your page. May I please have a copy of the picture? Here is the info: He shaved his head before he left so he's bald in the pic. Again, God bless you!!!! K.H.
First of all, I would like to thank you for the care packages you have provided me here in Iraq. I suspect you got my name and address from one of my previous NCO's, of the 94th Maintenance Company. She and I served together at Ft Stewart, Georgia. I was transferred to Ft Campbell prior to the 94th Maintenance Company deploying over here. I grew up in Appleton, Maine and am extremely proud that a group of folks from my home state would touch the lives of our soldiers and maybe more importantly, set the example for our young folks by displaying your patriotism. Thank you so much. May God richly bless each of you for your efforts. Respectfully, T.W. Bravo Co., 801st BSB, 506th RCT
I want to Thank You for being there to greet my daughter with such love and support for what she is doing. She is my oldest and only daughter, she left behind 3 brothers, 16,8,and 5. My daughter did not enter the military on just a whim. She is a full fledged "Army Brat". Her father has served 28 years in the Army and has just recently retired. She has seen her father deploy twice to the middle east and do 3 unaccompanied tours to Korea, not to mention all the temporary duties that took him away for weeks to months at a time. She felt a need to serve her country in a way only a person who grows up in a military family knows, knowing full well that a lot of her service to her country will be away from family and home. She knows that the unit she is in is her family and that they will take care of her as did the military unit that took care of her dad and his family he left behind. Thank You again for your support of the Military, keep up what you are doing, it is wonderful!! Respectfully, E. G.
First of all I want to thank you for all the support you are giving to our troops. My husband called me very emotional because he could not believe all the support and love he was receiving from you when he arrived July 10, 2006. He is proud to serve his country thanks to people like you. Once again thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting my husband. It is a blessing. B.U.
Hello. I cannot find words enough to express my gratitude to all of you. My husband was in Maine on June 29th. I looked and looked for him in the pictures, but he wasn't there LOL He called to tell me how wonderful a reception they got. In a situation that is almost unbearable to us, you have made it easier. I got to talk to him. He felt appreciated. There are no words to thank you enough. I couldn't be there to take care of him that day, but you were. You will forever be in my prayers and my heart. May God Bless you everyday. L.M. Proud wife of Spc. M. M. 3rd Brgd. Ft.Lewis
I would like to take this opportunity to “thank you” for extending your hands and hearts to my son as he processed through Maine on his way to Iraq. He has mentioned it several times through email and calls. It was especially appreciated as I viewed your pictures with his 2 young nephews. Keep up the good work! Again, thank you. J.L.
Dear Flag Ladies, It’s been said over and over in the letters I’m reading on your site, thank you for welcoming our troops… I can’t say it any better than those before me. My husband was in Bangor July 22, 2006, one day before our fifteenth wedding anniversary on his way to Iraq. All I can say to add to all those warm thoughts you’ve already received is that he was more touched by the display of patriotism he saw in Bangor than at any other time in his 17 years in the army. He was in the first war, Desert Storm, and didn’t feel nearly the support then as he did this time around. His mother was part of a group like yours in our hometown that spent many, many hours welcoming home soldiers as they came through our tiny little airport. The difference then was that it was a small town and it was usually our own, one or two at a time, coming home. You are welcoming any and all strangers coming and going as your own. WOW!
You are providing a wonderful service not only to our soldiers but also to their families who feel so helpless when we have to let them go. It warms my heart that my children will grow up in a world where people still believe in America and still appreciate our military men. Thank you! My prayers go out to you, especially Elaine, hang in there. We in Colorado are encouraged by your vision.
Hello Flag Ladies, I'm a mother of one of the soldiers that you greeted on July 10, 2006. I received your web site from my daughter-in-law. What a pleasure in knowing that you ladies and other do so much for our boys and girls. I'm sure they didn't expect to have anything like this. I'm sure seeing you brought a smile to their faces. I know it would have brought tears to mine. This is a very stressful time for everyone seeing their love ones leave and not knowing what will happen. So having you there at that moment brought joy to them. It was like having their families Once again, thank you so much for being there for our troops, one more time seeing our son, husband, brother, uncle was something that we will treasure. God be with all of you. G.H.
I read an article about what you do for our soldiers in the GX magazine (Guard Excellence) and wanted to thank you. My husband is in the Army National Guard and is on his way over. He will be going through your town sometime today. I think it is an absolutely wonderful thing you do for our soldiers!! Our guys have already been away from their families for 5 months of training and every little bit of support they receive really boosts their spirits and makes them feel ready to do the job they’re setting out to do. I hope they get a chance to meet you!!! God Bless You for your service to our soldiers!!! G.P.
Dear Freeport Flag Ladies,
I would just like thank you for all do for the men and women in the armed forces. My son was at Bangor Maine Airport on July 20th headed for Afghanistan, He said it was so nice of you all to treat them so nice and I am so happy that my son got to meet you all he said it was such a warm welcome and he can’t wait to see you all when he returns in 6 months. I am just so happy that he will be greeted by you all when he lands in the states again he said ya’ll are like family and that you really care what they are doing!! Thanks again for all you do it is really appreciated by all the guys and women!! Thanks Again, C. W. (mother of a Sailor)
Respectfully, T. W. Bravo Company, 801st BSB, 506th RC 101st ABN DVN (AASLT)
My husband just sent me your website, and told me to find his picture on it. He stopped over in Maine on his way to Kuwait and then Iraq. He was overwhelmed and honored that so many people came to greet the troops. He sounded so happy to get such a warm greeting from you. Needless to say, I feel so grateful that he left the United States on such a positive note. It certainly doesn't seem adequate, but thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness. Not only for the sake of my husband, but for all of the soldiers who are sad and scared as they leave to do their jobs. Thank you again for all that you do. L.F.
Hi Freeport Flag Ladies, Thank you for your continued support and messages while I was deployed to Iraq. I am sorry that the Army did not fly us through Bangor on our way home. Instead, they stopped in New Jersey, then on to Fort Bliss. Elaine, I hope you have been doing well since your hospitalization. You should have someone else take your place when you aren't feeling well. Keep up the good work. I will never forget your kindness and hospitalilty I experienced when we were fortunate enough to spend a few moments with your group in March. Sincerely, COL Richard Asami
Hello and God bless out there in Maine! First of all I would like to thank you beautiful ladies for your unconditional kindness towards the troops and as one being my uncle Steve Solis. You truly have enormous hearts and I can't find enough words to thank you all. I was very pleased and filled with joy to find pictures of my uncle, first talking on the phone with my Mom-his sister-and later sitting with some of the members of his platoon posing for a PIC. And seeing him just being his happy self! I would like to ask if you may be so kind as to send me his pictures by mail to have as a sense of hope to see his face at home once again. Thank you ever so much and keep praying for peace, M. G his proud niece
Thank you so much for your e-mail and the mention of the pictures on your website. I saw my husband in two of them and you’re right – it really made me smile J My 2 year old saw it and was thrilled to see his daddy. (we have 4 children from 2 to 14 yrs old!) I work at the Family Assistance Center designated to help the families of our unit – I’m going to e-mail them the link to your website first thing tomorrow morning – I know they’ll all enjoy it as much as I did J Thank you again for all you do – God Bless!!! G.P.
