Special Pennies for the soldiers

Each soldier that we greet and photograph at either Bangor, Maine or Portsmouth, New Hampshire is given a card with a shiny new penny and the website information to give to their family. It is difficult to find large numbers of new pennies and the women at Bath Savings have worked hard to obtain them for us.

We get 5,000 pennies at a time. They come in a bag fthat must weight 30 pounds!

Hours of work are spent in cutting the cards, making the slot for the penny, taping the penny in place and putting it into a special bag.

Many of the soldiers keep the card and penny with them all through their deployment as a reminder of their send off and a Good Luck piece.
